that we will be better than we have shown. I guess the pundits were right. Not having enough practices early put us behind. The Christmas break gave enough time to have some concentrated work and the results showed defensively especially. I like it.

Hope for what??? This 4-guard line-up will get burn in the big12. Imagine a Cade Davis or
a Cameron Clark get abuse by a 6-9 or 6-10 post just like the Cincinnati game.

I like how CJ brings energy on both ends. I believe that he will play more in conference. Fitz can't stay on the floor because he is a human foul machine.

Not many other options outside of CJ, IMO. May as well play 4 guards if your other option is Nick Thompson.....

Get burn by whom? idon't know if you've been watching big 12 basketball but there is no dominant post. The only reason cade played that position was because Fitz was in foul trouble. I thought it was one of our better games.

Ok i have been travling today and missed the first half, who were our starters tonight? did we start with a four gaurd lineup?

When we play against Kansas, one of our guard will get drill by one of the Morris twin or
thomas robinson. When we play against Texas, one of our guard will get drill by either
Tristan Thompson or Jordan Hamilton or Gary Johnson. When we play against Kansas State, either Cade or Cameron will get abuse by Curtis Kelly, Wally Judge, or Jamar Samuels. Should I go on?

I dont think we have enough on our roster to compete with those teams no matter what line up we go with. We dont have enough talent to win more than 4 games in conference

Closer to the end of the first half, we have one of our best line-up and were up by 10. It was CJ, Fitz, Cade, Cameron, and Blair. It was only a half-court miracle shot at the end that cut the lead to 7. Then the start of the second half we went back to the 4-guard and the lead dwindled down. If we had stick with that same line-up in the second half, probably we would have won in double digit. Fitz would not have that many foul.

Thank ya for the info, when i got home there were 12 min left in the game and we were up 3. It did not look good

I disagree. Fitz gets in foul trouble because he does not move his feet well, and he always gets caught on the high side of his man when the ball swings. CJ is the only post defender that we have who is quick enough to get around the post on defense.

I like Fitz, but if you put him on a 6-8 or bigger type guy, he gets killed inside because he's only 6-6 or 6-7. If you put him on smaller guys inside, he is too slow to play them. Outside of CJ, who else do tyou suggest we play in the traditional line-up??

We shot over 55% from the field in the 1st half. In the 2nd we went the 1st 5 to 7 minutes without one FG. That is why the game was closer. Had little to do with defense......

CJ, Fitz, Cameron, Cade, Blair or Newell. CJ's job is to defend other team best post. Fitz is in for post offense. Cade, Cameron, Blair or Newell for outside and midrange shot as well as penetration. Since you list Fitz's deficiencies, and Capel played him as the only post plus other 4 guards, who will be able to defend other team post?

So a 4 point home win over one of the worst teams in college basketball who just lost at Mizzou by 50 gives you hope? For what? That we will win 2 conference games instead of one? We will not only be out-athleted but also outcoached in almost all of the remaining games.

OU barely beat a 4-9 team playing its first year of D1 ball... How does that give you hope?

Well it was because one of the guard got beat inside so much that they can't produce on the offensive side. Did you see an Oklahoman article having Cade quoting that he has to push back and forth trying to defend in the post that he is so tired?

I didn't get to see the whole game, so I'll have to take y'all's word for it, but 73 points allowed to Central Ark doesn't sound like a great defensive effort to me.

I understand what you are saying. The reason why we play 4 guards is because those 4 guys have given us our best chance to win. Like I said, I like CJ playing inside, but after that we have no one who can guard the post, including Fitz. He has been in foul trouble since day one because he doesn't move his feet. CJ is athletic, but he also has to be played in spurts because of his tendency to jump alot, and reach alot. I guess that my summary would be that we just don't have enough talent to make such a big deal about the lineups. Not much difference defensively when we play 4 guards or one other post, except for CJ

Thompson and Honore have not shown anything to merit playing more than the 4 guards, IMO....

I would have played the traditional line-up with CJ and Fitz as posts. Then occasionally substitute Honore or Thompson for foul trouble or some breather.
We can't have our guard get beat up pushing and shoving inside that they ran out of breath/tire to produce on the offensive end. I hope we don't ever have another coach from the Duke coaching tree, they tend to play with the 4 guard line-up but the only reason they win is because they are all top notch talent. We don't have that kind of talent to play 4 guard line-up.
