Central Arkansas game gives me hope

Was it impressive? No. But before the season if I would've said Cade, Fitz, and Pledger combined for 27 points in a game, I don't think many would think we could win any game on the schedule. The young guys are becoming more comfortable. That is where the hope comes for me. I don't care that they won by 3. I do care that they won. The wins may be few and far between from here on out, so I will enjoy them when they occur. There will be plenty of opportunities to gripe about a loss.

I am literally stunned that so many people watched that game and came out feeling good about OU basketball.. That was a back and forth game, with late ties, and that team was constantly within 1,2,3 points or tied all the way till the end.

It was like an NCAA Tournament game between two really good teams, only it was a 4-9 Central Arkansas team playing its first year of D1 basketball vs a 7-6 OU team having its worst season since the 1950's.

Not only that, OU had to shoot 61% from the field and 53% from the 3pt line, AND get a career performance out of Cameron Clark to beat them. OU played its best game of the year and that team was playing with OU the entire way.

And last year's team would probably have found a way to lose a game like that. They give good effort and they play as a team. I can appreciate that. If you can't, that's your problem. Is that the sum total of my expectations for OU basketball? Of course not. But this is who we are this year. I'm not going to waste my time whining and complaining about what they aren't.

This.

Guys are showing improvement. Thats why there is hope. If not for this season, but for the future.

See, that's my problem. Where is all of this improvement? If we were really improving, wouldn't we beat teams like Sacramento St and Central Arkansas by more? I hate to use the "transitive property of college sports", but Missouri just beat Central Ark two weeks ago by more than FIFTY points.

How would last years team have found away to lose the game? Last years team won every close OOC game it played, hell they even beat Arkansas & Arizona easily. While I agree that some posters seem overly aggressive in voicing their displeasure with this team. I also feel that some (like you) are being intellectually dishonest, creating positives that don't exist, or minimizing negatives that do exist.

all that game gave me hope for is that this is probably Capel's last year here

I dont know how anyone could have watched that game and come away with the idea we have hope or are going to be better than 2 or 3 wins in conference...

Look, i thought Clark played great last night and look forward to him doing much the same in conference...but he was supposed too! those were guys that play on a team not far removed from D2...same with CJ and Fitz...these are all guys they can matchup against and did in Juco/High School...not anything like the size and quickness they will see from any Big 12 team...

If you changed our jersey's to say Creighton or Bradley on the front, then had them evaluated with the other teams from the Missouri Valley, there is a strong chance we finish somewhere in the middle...and virtually no chance of finishing first...

There's a big difference between being a fan and being a cheerleader. You don't have to be one to be the other.

Who the hell are you and what the hell have you done with sawyer. This makes too much sense.

Just messin with ya sawyer, great post.

Thanks for proving my point. You are so blind with your Capel hatred/rage, you missed the entire point of my post. never did I say one word about being satisfied with losing, but because I didn't join you in ripping our coach, you ASSumed that I'm satisfied, mediocre, etc......

I can see the problems and struggles as well or better than you and the others who choose to bash Capel in every thread.

I personally CHOOSE to take the same approach that I did with Tubbs, KS, Switzer, Bliss, Blake, etc... I will support my guys and cheer for my guys no matter who is coaching. I will not waste my time *****ing about a coach in every thread, when my *****ing changes nothing. Once the admin who is paid alot more than me to make coaching decisions, makes a decision to change coaches, I will immediately begin to cheer for and support that coach, because he or she just became a part of the University that I love.

That is just my personal option, and that is why I commented on what Ms Proud said. She and I have posted together on numerous boards, so she knew what I meant. This is the same thing that ruined the board during sampson's last yr. We would win a game 56-47, and all that you would see on the board was thread after thread *****ing about how Sampson's teams don't have an offensive system, and how we would never win a title as long as KS was the coach. It became like a cancer on the board, just like the 10000000000000 I hate Capel comments and threads. I just don't choose to support my school that way, but to each his own.....

:clap
