Christian Doolittle!

I think Doolittle is the better pro prospect than McGusty.
And I think McGusty is going to be REALLY good.

I agree on both counts. I could easily see Doolittle as 6'9" in 2 years and a lottery pick.

He's a 6'7 PF. I love his game but he doesn't translate well to the NBA. Just bc I don't think he's a great NBA prospect doesn't I don't think he'll be a great player.

The NBA scouts disagree with you about Doolittle. There is a high expectation from the league that he will not finish all 4 years.

I don't think Doolittle will play the 4 in the nba. I think he has the quickness to be a three

I won't for now.

Why? He is a pretty good ball handler. Brings the ball up the court against the press. Took it to the hole to his left for a driving layup last night. Is very athletic. Is shooting 48% from 3 on the season (fairly limited sample), and shoots a decent amount from midrange. Defends the perimeter a lot. He basically does nothing that a traditional power forward would do except rebound fairly well. And he's a true freshman.

He was the safety man against the press & brought it up when his man went and doubled. Spangler did the same thing. Just bc he can drive left to hit a layup doesn't mean he's a SF. He's a talented, quick, strong PF and if he was 6'9 he'd be a 1st rounder in a year or 2.

All of this makes it look like I don't like Doolittle but I love his game. People just need to pump the breaks a little.

Completely agree. His game is more 3 than 4 right now.

I agree with this. He played well last night but I don't see him leaving before his eligibility is up though I would gladly admit I'm wrong if he gets there.

Am I the only one who is pleasantly surprised that Kristian is demonstrating the ability to knock down shots from three? He's averaging 47% for the season on a limited number of shots. But his stroke looked really good in last night's game when he went 4 of 5 from behind the arc.

He's so good going strong to the hole and in rebounding (his determined effort reminds me a little of Spangler), I'm torn between our need for a player who actually knows how to block out and get good position on the boards, and our need for another perimeter shooter right now.

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember the Oregon coach saying, after our scrimmage, something along the lines of Kristian being the most impressive player on our team despite being a true freshman. Also despite James going off for 30.

It's been really great to see him making that big jump these past few games.

I am very surprised and impressed with how good he's been from 3 as a spot-up shooter. I'm sort of waiting for the streak to end the way Spangler was great from 3 early last season but couldn't buy one later in the season. But it hasn't. We could always use more of both -- shooters and rebounders -- of course but I feel like it's only a matter of time before James busts out of his slump. And long term, even if it doesn't happen this year, it'll happen over the next 2. Bottom line -- you can never have too many guys who can do all the things Doolittle's shown he can do so far.

I'm not suprised with his outside shooting. The games I watched when he was in high school, he was usually playing on the perimeter and shot from there. I am more suprised with his inside ability.
