So this is our replacement for Shake? Probably the difference between Cousins & Buddy between these two as freshmen. Who knows what the difference will be in 3 years.
"For months ESPN four-star shooting guard Christian James was Oregon's to lose. He called the Ducks his "dream school" and, at times, said his other suitors weren't even close.
Houston has as much talent as anywhere in the nation and is often not given its due respect by the recruiting sites IMO. Ou needs to really set up shop in H-town for all sports.
Very true! The talent in Houston is crazy good. Christian James school, Bellaire, is traditionally good. Bellaire was 26–5 in the 2000-2001 season, losing 56–42 in the third round of the 2001 UIL state playoffs, to Willowridge High School and future Texas standout T. J. Ford. Both teams are from Houston. Willowridge won back-to-back state titles with a 75-1 record. This game is particularly notable, however, because it featured five players who would go on to play in an NCAA Final Four (Bellaire had John Lucas (OSU) and Emeka Okafor (UConn... 2nd pick in the NBA draft), while Willowridge featured Ford, Oklahoma State's Ivan McFarlin and Duke's Daniel Ewing). Ford and Ewing both were named Parade All-Americans playing for the same HS team. All five of these Houston-area players would eventually go on to play at least a season in the NBA in addition to starting for teams in the Final Four.
I remember refereeing a game where Rashard Lewis played ..... and it was a JV game. He just finished his 17th year in the NBA.
So far Christian James AAU team (Houston Hoops) has already had 7 players announce which D1 school they plan to sign with in November, and there will be more. Houston is fertile with athletes.
