It's early but what a difference a year makes. Happy for him, hope he keeps it up!

Agreed. He obviously worked hard in the off season to get in shape and to get his confidence back. I couldn’t be happier for him!

He's clearly 1 of the 5 best players on the team right now. That doesn't mean that he necessarily has to start, but he should be getting lots of PT as long as he's playing this well.

The thing I like about CJ, besides when he's scoring and hitting Js, is the other stuff he does. Steals, rebounds, etc.

I hope he keeps it up.

But after last year, I'll be a hopeful pessimist

I get what you’re saying, Bounce. But this is a different Christian James. He’s not the pudgy player who lost confidence in himself we saw last year. Check out the pictures on Soonersports.com. The work he put in during the off season is obvious. He’s ripped. It’s also clear he worked just as hard on his game. Hard work builds confidence, something he lost and couldn’t find last season.

I’m not saying he won’t hit a shooting slump at some point. But, there is so much more to his game now than knocking down threes. Someone said last night he’s the best player on the team not named Trae Young. I agree with that assessment.

You're right, Ada. Christian looks like a completely different person than his freshman and sophomore versions.

We saw multiple posts last year from guys who said Christian was too heavy/slow. Well, he's neither at this point. I expect big things out of CJ during his final two seasons.

I think in the article posted here a few weeks ago he said he weighed 234 at one time and is 208 now. He credited Bryce Daub for helping him get in much better shape. He's much quicker, more active, and just an all-around better player this year.

He looked great in last night's game. Anxious to see him against better athletes. He's, noticeably, more fit.

Wow. That's nuts if he was that big last year. Personally, id like to see him keep getting more lean and be 200.

I hope he has more athleticism bc of the weight loss.

He's been putting up great numbers and I'm cautiously very optimistic for his year

I was stunned at the changes. He did look big to me last year and I thought it affected his game. He has oodles of talent and skills, now if he has the demeanor to match then he could make a major leap in his impact on the program. Good for him!!

Oh, and I dig the change he made to his hair. He's all business now. It's like the kid has grown up and figured things out.

The article is the one posted on SoonerSports.com. I went back and re-read the article. He said he weighed 228 when he "got here" ..... nothing about how much he weighed last season. He said he weighs 208 now and gave a lot of the credit to Bryce Daub.

Honestly, I thought he looked heavier as a sophomore than he did as a freshman.

He has played great in practice from what I hear.

The hot shooting we’re seeing now is no fluke. He was also a near perfect 12 of 13 from three during the down under tour. He was 3 of 5 from three in the scrimmage with UT Arlington.

This is an even better version of the Christian James most of us thought we’d see last season.

If he plays at this level this season there is no doubt we will be a tournament team.

The James we saw as a frosh could play... we need him to step up and be big time for this team to succeed.

Looks like he lost a lot of muscle mass. Better shooter's body now.
