luckyc, I disagree with your thesis, if I'm reading between the lines correctly, that Capel's a poor coach. Last year's three McD AA team didn't work out, but no one thought the team would be as bad as it was; the media, fans, and Big 12 coaches all thought OU would compete for the Big 12 championship at a minimum. This board was so enthusiastic prior to the season that when it went south, the disappointment was like a kick in the gut. Imagine what Capel's disappointment must have been.
Capel is still a young coach in the big scheme of things, but he completed a successful summer as the head coach of an All-American team and he's proven that he can bring in talent that is second to only a handful of programs. Since this is the first season that he'll be without his longtime assistant, I'm looking forward to seeing what Capel can build on his own.
I suspect that this team will be better than most people prognosticate. I also suspect that Capel will bring in some great talent next year and everyone will think last year was an abhorration. At least I hope so.
