I heard 2 things yesterday that I think should be done. One is health care while still in school and for football related injuries for a certain time after playing is complete. Second is for 5 years after football is complete they can attend school with no tuition until degree is finished. Now the former athlete would have to pay room and board, but it allows them time to finish. This would also work for a player that goes to NFL and is no longer in the league in 2 years he can go back and finish degree.
Five years? That is ridiculous. Why do they need 9 years to complete college (10 if they redshirt)? It would be one thing to say you get one semester or possibly a year but five is just stupid. They have to pass 12 hours per semester to stay eligible.
