College Basketball Crown

I read something that said OU women are top 5 in sec NIL. There is a woman from Iowa who bank rolls Coach B. Not too many coaches bring their own BMDs (BYOBMD$)! It is really impressive and OU better not let Jennie B leave.

It would take probably another $5-10 million for OU men to get to top 5. Don’t see that happening with how hungry the football program is.

The money for Chavez didn't come from the woman Jennie knew previously.

What that lady gave OU is public record. It was nice, but it was given to the program, and was not given as a means to getting Chavez. And it was one time. That lady isn't out giving Jennie cash monthly to fund the program.

If you listened to it then you are blatantly making stuff up due to your dislike for him. Quite literally nothing about his press conference matches what you are saying. That's fine you're entitled to your opinion even though it's wrong.
I'm not making anything up. The fake quote I included was clearly fake.

My take away from watching it isn't though. I don't like the man. I don't like the way he talks. I don't like the things he says. I don't like the things he doesn't say. We're talking about a guy with over 20 years of HC experience that is well under .500 in conference play. Not one GOOD coach in the history of the game has that stat, yet after 20+ years some of you want to defend him until the end. He needs to be a man and take responsibility for the resume he has put together, both at OU and before. He needs to look inward for what needs to change, not constantly looking for handouts to mask his inability to coach.

The day that man leaves OU will be one of the happier OU sports days of my life. That is how little I think of PoMo as a coach.

That money came from Harold Hamm bet you.

Couple of points.

Nobody just randomly gave that money to Jennie for now reason. She's earned it with her track record and ability to communicate a plan for the program to the people that have money. She's built relationships. Moser has been doing this a lot longer, and has not.

And while yes, Chavez is the equivalent to AJ or Boozer as a recruit, they are not the same as players. Those guys are some of the best players in the country. Chavez has that potential, but she was not a top 5, top 10, or probably even top 25 player in the country this year. So as far as getting results with what they have as players currently, I'd still say Jennie is lapping anything Moser is doing. Moser has the more complete roster, or at least, a better 1-8, comparatively.

On point 2.

You’re missing it. Chavez was rated as a top 5 player before college in her class. Same as the guys I mentioned.

We’d have a different outcome if we signed those guys.
Once again $7mil male player vs $700k women’s player.

That was the point.

My hot take, that no one will probably agree with me about, is that Beers actually kind of held the women back.

She was always in foul trouble, and couldn't get up and down the floor fast enough for the kind of offense Jenni likes to run. She just wasn't athletic enough for what the women's game has become.

And I know she was an All-American, so I'm not here to really argue it. I just think her being here probably stopped Jenni from being able to get a big time, athletic big. And that is needed in the women's game right now to compete with the top 4 or 5 teams (along with other missing pieces, but I think that was the biggest missing piece). I also don't know what the portal looks like for the women, so I'm not sure how many athletic bigs hit the portal. I'm sure it's not much.

But I always kind of felt like that's really what they were missing, and could never get it because that position was taken (again, by an All-American).

It's almost like how I felt Tanner Groves held Moser back his first few years. He was supposed to be really good (based off on one tournament, hindsight is 20/20), and he didn't live up to it. But him being here no doubt cost them a lot of chances (along with NIL) at bigs that could have really helped early in Moser's tenure.

Again, I'm not really trying to argue it. Because it sounds stupid since she is considered one of the best in the women's college game, and I'm probably wrong, but it's just my opinion.

So uh, back to discussion on the College Basketball Crown...

Colorado released their travel roster, all 3 of the transfers are not on it. They're missing 3 of 5 starters including their leading scorer and both big men. Without their rim protector I have a hard time seeing how they're going to stop guys like Davis from getting to the rim (assuming he finishes well). Then for CU offensively, it basically all falls to Hargress, who was efficient with lower volume for them this season, but when he's the only guy left that scores, can he do so? How will their bench guys play being thrust into the spotlight?

This feels like mostly a motivation thing for Moser & co., if OU can show up and play like they have towards the end of the season, there's no reason they should lose to a team that's starting 5 is over half bench guys.

I saw where Dak had entered the portal and was wondering if he would play in this. I hadn’t seen where the others had announced. So Colo will be w/o Dak, Rancik and Johnson?? If so…we can’t lose a game like this. I saw where the spread was OU -8.5, which I thought was as a little big…but makes sense if those 3 are not playing.

I wouldn’t mind adding any of those 3 in the portal.

Colorado posted their travel roster yesterday, so it's now official that those 3 are out: Colorado Sets College Basketball Crown Roster - University of Colorado Athletics

As some others I think said earlier, looks like the line moved from -6.5 to -8.5 once things got more set in stone.

From what the rumors are, didn’t Jennie find a lot of that money on her own? I’m legitimately asking because it’s been posted here a couple times. But she also had her team in three tourneys and a Sweet 16 before Chavez arrived, and she took over a horrible mess. The women were a disaster the last few years before she was hired.
yes same for the softball team and the baseball team ..

MOSER has the WORST conf record in 100 years at OU

the number of people defending Moser’s coaching are dwindling fast. Good job assembling the roster this year (with low end NIL), but very poor results in the end to not make the tournament. I’m out on him as OU’s head coach.

Now I will defend him as a person and I have never had an issue with what he says publicly. He is a good person by all accounts and cares deeply for his players. He wants to win badly. He needs more support from the program, BMDs, and fans. I have no problem with him voicing this. But OU can do better than him. Think after next year OU will have its chance at proving just that.
