It's difficult to get a read on CSU. They thumped Adams State and Omaha pretty good, but were edged by Nebraska in Lincoln and wiped out by Washington. They just seem to be an average team.
I think OU is coming around pretty well, and I hope they don't look at this game as easy. They have looked a lot better in the last two games in which the competition was regarded more seriously. Peyton and Maddie have gone from 21 and 13 in the first two games to 33 and 26 in the next two. They have become lethal since the competition became more serious.
With Vivi, EJ, and Nancy you can see an outstanding present and future. Vivi and EJ are ready right now to be stars. Nancy has blocked at least one shot in every game. Sherri seems to have complete faith in EJ, and she seems to deserve it. Her progress is probably better than that of anyone else on the team. She has come out of nowhere to be a solid post. Sherri was confident enough in Nancy to stick her into the games in the first half against BYU and South Dakota State. She was expected to give Vivi and EJ some rest, and she did. They were able to drive around her when she went outside. But, she did stop the interior jump shots.
Sometimes, it seems that a good game by Maddie spurs Peyton.
I watched the SDS game three times. When our shooters were squared up, they tended to hit their threes. If they were drifting, they never hit one. Maddie missed one badly when she drifted to the left. Gabbi shot almost all of hers while drifting to the right or left. Gioya squared up for two and hit them both. I wonder if Maddie will keep up her jump shooting. She had three that were perfect form: 17 feet right baseline, about 12 feet straight on, about 20 feet left arc while well-guarded and on the move.
SDS was a good team for us to play. They played well, and they capitalized on every defensive mistake. They aren't as skilled as athletes, and they got rushed trying to keep up. We won the turnover battle by ten, and it made a difference.
