I think I was a bit more secure last year at this time because we had Whitney. Maddie had not yet emerged, and we hadn't lost either.
Joanna still hadn't really overcome the psychological aspect of her jaw injury.
But, we did have Whitney, Griffin, Morgan, and Vegas which was a pretty good start to a solid team. I thought we had some depth in Maddie, and some defensive depth in Hartman. Sharane had shown some aptitude, but it hadn't blossomed. But, I thought we had a chance to go to the Elite Eight with Whitney.

Well. We lost Maddie and Whitney, and I thought we would be lucky to get past the round of 32, if that far. But, Jo came back just as she had at the end of her sophomore year. We were OK.

This year, I feel pretty good right now. Today helped. We were able to score without Aaryn. We built a twenty-four point lead with only three points from Aaryn. Sharane---where did this Sharane come from? She was really outstanding. Griffin was in charge. Morgan started a bit slow, but she took charge. Kay Kay did some good things.

Vegas had the worst day she had had this fall. She had some lapses into last year. But, she finished strong.

If this team can score without Vegas like they did today, this team can be good. Carter gave some good minutes.

This will be a good team - I think definitely Sweet 16. Our newbies came in with solid basketball knowledge and skills.

The freshman looked more comfortable yesterday. I think it will be a bit still before they stop second guessing about what they are doing. 2 or 3 more games and they will flow a lot better.

Agreed. We were on pace at one point to a 100 point game during the first half and had 46 at halftime. At that point Aaryn had 3 points. At this point of the season, I think we're doing very good. T'Ona, Gioya and Shaya are learning right now, but I think their talent is apparent. And they are going to be contributors during conference season and playoffs.

Maybe it was just me, but it seemed that the officials were letting them play a little more the first half, then calling it pretty tight in the second half. They were consistent calling both sides, but made it tough on the kids knowing how physical , or not they could play. I am glad we have a pretty deep bench though. It sure helps when you hit 80 per cent of your free throws.

I think you are right. If teams want to take the 3 away from us, we have plenty of kids who will drive it down the defenses throats. With Nicole and Kayon hitting well off the glass, teams are going to have to decide what to give up. It sure will help a lot when our "bombers" start hitting behind the arc. Gonzaga would be a great time for that to start happening.

That is exactly why I said a few days ago I thought Griffin would have the most trouble with fouls under the new rules. All players are still trying to adjust.
