Conference Realignment Analysis

Just what we always knew. The Big XII lost nothing. 3rd best conference before and after the moves. The only difference is the 3rd best conference only has to share with 10 teams.

What happens, if as rumored, Florida State and Miami join the Big 12? If it happens I think we'll end up with an East-West division.

Both Florida State and Miami have been pretty good basketball schools. Maybe not as successful as Mizzou or TA&M but close. In football and baseball, the Florida schools are significantly better.

I'm not down with Miami. FSU and Notre Dame. That should be the main targets. Other than that stay at 10 which works more than fine.

I like Georgia Tech from a market standpoint, as well as for recruiting. I honestly think that ND, FSU, GT and Clemson would all be ahead of Miami on the conferences wish list.

I've never heard Miami as a serious candidate- other than FSU wants a travel buddy. Florida State and Clemson should be added to the Big12 within the month. If you can work out a deal for Notre Dame take another ACC school- probably GT. The only reason to go to 16 is if the SEC and Big12 have both agreed to destroy the ACC to insure a four conference playoff system. But that seems too diabolical to be credible.

Fact or opinion?

I have heard that all of the action should start mid to late June.

I can honestly say the best road trip I have ever been on was last year's game in Tallahassee, would definitely be up for that again. Taking a RV down there is perfect as you are in the middle of everything.

Fact or opinion?

Have it on good authority that from the B12 side, there is belief that this is a done deal. Now are Florida State and Clemson telling the B12 everything they want to hear and through back channels trying to get a spot in the SEC? Who knows. I hear the SEC prefers North Carolina and Virginia Tech to keep their one school per state rule in expansion (obviously Mississippi and Tennessee are exceptions to this but they were original members).

Looks like Clemson and FSU ain't gonna happen. Unless BYU and ND somehow get desperate to enter a conference. I seriously doubt the Big 12 expands. They won't get the money from any other 2 teams to warrant an expansion.

Link?

Because last I read if anything was going to happen soon, it was going to happen in July. It isn't July yet.

And even if it doesn't happen then, I still think it'll happen down the road. The ACC isn't going to make it when the big 4 conferences decide they are ready to "move on". And that day will come, it's just a matter of win.

You really think the coach is going to say it's happening? Especially when even if it is, it certainly isn't final yet?

You are right about one thing, if not those schools, for now, probably not anybody. I'm still think FSU and Clemson are in play. Hard to walk away from that kind of stability, and money. Big 12 doesn't want BYU. And ND isn't going to move until they are forced to. I'd give it another 4-6 weeks, after the new Big 12 Commish takes over, and see what happens.

If BYU were bringing so much money to the table, the PAC12, Big 10, etc. would be knocking down their door. And they are not. Clemson doesn't bring anything. ND would be the one to significantly increase TV revenue. FSU would be the second choice but we don't need them. Better for them to stay in ACC and be at a disadvantage financially. SEC won't take them so where are they going to go? Nowhere!

I wouldn't expect any announcement from FSU until after the College World Series. And we Wont just take Clemson and be at 11. Therefore it will be at least another week possibly more until we know something

Looks more and more like the Big 12 will just stay at 10. Notre Dame is now talking to the ACC and it looks like the Big 12 will do nothing to stop it.
