They were the #1 overall seed, had the best regular season, #1 in AP and Coaches poll. Congrats to them for winning the national championship. They should cut down some nets and hang a banner like Kansas does.

Don't we crown the National Champion the same way we crown the Big 12 champion?

This tournament thing is kind of pointless, isn't it?

Fairly good example of a straw man argument.

Oh, good -- another thread about your arcane pet peeve!

There are many counter arguments to your stance, but I've posted them before and you ignored them so I'm not going to bother doing so again. I do think one thread on this topic might have been sufficient, though.

By the way, there are still TWO (2) trophies.

> Trophy for Big-12 regular season champion
> Trophy for Big-12 tournament champion

Both champions hang banners inside their arenas.

This seems to be a controversy about nothing. A nothingness. Nothing to see here.

Post again, I will pay attention this time.

And nobody gives a damn or recognizes the winner of the tournament as the conference champion.

And, they don't hand out a regular season championship at the national level. Only the tournament champion is recognized as the National Champion.

Are you ok?

Yes, doing very well. Thank you.

Good. Because it seems as though you're really not. Glad to hear everything's fine. (Just please don't go near any weapons for the time being.)

Things are looking up....

The Masters is right around the corner, I just shot a 73 over the weekend, I don't need to spend any time watching the NCAA Tournament because we already have a National Champion (Villanova), and I going to travel some soon.

The NCAA Tournament is a scam. Lots of fun, but rarely crowns the best team. If you think that South Carolina had a better season than Villanova because of one 3-point game, then you're absolutely kidding yourself. Nobody wins NCAA tournaments with consistency. Even Cal has only won one...same as Self and Izzo. Also the same as Kevin Ollie. :facepalm

Dang, that's not a bad score for nine holes!!! ;)

Anytime I see the term "straw man argument" used....usually means that person has nothing else of substance to defend their weak stance....so they try some reverse Psychology crap with the use of these psychobabal terms (trying to sound intelligent)....totally denying that their initial comments had any innuendos in them whatsoever....and if you happen to try and read between any lines, they can easily defend it by using this weak rebuttal.

People who use that term probably also end their emails with "Cheers" or "regards"....also on the d-bag level.

Just saying....

Everybody in the Big 12 plays each other during the regular season. Twice actually.

Does everybody in the country play everybody during the regular season? No? Well there ya go. That is the difference.

Baylor was the #1 team in the country when the New Year rolled around...should we give them a banner too?

Easy fix. 3 game series until you get to the Final four, then 5 game series in the semi games, then 7 game series in the final!!!

See everyone is July!

In all seriousness, maybe doing a 3 game series once it reaches the final four wouldn't be a bad thing (probably not practical though). Any team can have an off night.....look no further than the 1988 NC game. OU was the best team that year...and no one is going to argue that point. We beat them 8-9 times out of 10!!!! But unfortunately, that 1 time came on the wrong night. I admit it....I cried after that game. I was 16 years old...and followed OU b-ball religiously since the Wayman days. Back then, not all games were on TV like today. Several were...but I listened to all the others on the radio....NEVER missed one!

I even remember setting my alarm clock for a game where we played Michigan in the Maui tournament or somewhere. I believe it was the 1988 or '89 season....and we played at like 2a.m. Okla time. I don't believe it was on TV...if it was, I didn't have that channel, but I listened to the whole game on the radio. We had just beat UNLV, but ended up losing to Mich. I think that team had Glen Rice, Rumeal Robinson, Loy Vaught, Sean Higgins, Terry Mills on it if I'm not mistaken. They were loaded...and the next season is when Mich won the NC. We had King and Blaylock back...but had to replace Harvey Grant, Sieger and Ricky Grace...so we were still finding ourselves. Terry Evans was a freshman, Skeeter Henry and Williams "Cheese" Davis were new juco transfers that ended up being great later that year. Good times in those days!!!!

Home court advantages. Nor does it explain why nobody cares about the Big 12 Tournament, and only cares about the NCAA Tournament.

Makes no sense.

And this is me also "just saying" that you need to cease and desist calling trav names. I may be old and fat but I can still sit on someone.

trav saying "straw man" is his nice manner of not kicking your a$$ 9 different ways from Sunday.

now if you wish to argue that yours is a comparable example then please do so. and support such a statement. with empirical examples if possible. then we can all nod our heads in agreement with you.

That was a really long-winded way to say you don't know what a straw man argument is.

Big difference. In the conference, every team plays each other twice. It is equal.

On the national stage, this obviously isn't the case so a tournament is needed
