Continuation calls are getting ridiculous

Watching the UNC and BC game. UNC guy has the ball at the basket - left side of rim - gets bumped (slightly) after his dribble. Afterwards, takes a bunny hop with both feet (clearly travels and badly). Then, makes a separate move and goes up and underneath to the right side of the rim and scores.

I hate how they are calling this. We've actually had a few questionable calls go our way on this but I don't like it. I am not looking forward to watching it even out in the second half of the year.

Agreed. We're seeing more continuation goals counted now than ever before.

It has to be the result of the new block/charge rule. But when you think about it, if you're going to call a block when the offensive player is already in his shooting motion, it makes sense to count the shot.

I am all for continuation when a guy is in his shooting motion (always have been). This one I referenced above and many other calls this year are not that at all. You cannot allow a guy to blatantly travel after he gets bumped, then go up for a shot after that, and count it. We've seen other calls where guys clearly get bumped before they ever start their shooting motion and are still on the floor and, yet, the refs allow them to go up after that and score.

This gives a big disadvantage to the defense. You have to keep playing after the foul and whistle and keep defending.

I've actually seen this in high school. My daughter's team got burned by this the other night. A girl has the ball on the post, defender jump in the air and comes down on her, she ducks, sheds the girl and then goes up and scores. Called an "and 1". It was pretty ridiculous.
