I had a conversation with a former college coach yesterday after Baylor's Midnight Madness. We talked about the B12. He said an NBA scout had told him that M'Baye is a 1st round pick possibly lottery quality. He said he's good enough to make all big 12 and might be staying in Norman for only a year.

We talked about some similarities to Ekpe Udoh- scout said M'Baye's a gym rat and approached the transfer year like only about 1% of the kids do- took the opportunity to really refine his skill set. He's going to shock many in the B12 and I think Sooners will as well.

Was it Fran? he has been high on M'Baye for over a year. So many positive vibes for this team so far.

Did he say anything specific about his game? I picture M'Baye playing similar to Shawn Marion.

I'm pretty high on M'Baye. But, I'm not buying in to the one and done talk just yet.

I would describe him this way. From the SF he gets around the court and moves like Cam. Only he does it alittle better. Compared to Osby, he is more athletic and has better range. As a shooter, I would take him in a horse game over everyone but Pledger. As a defender he doesn't have any trouble guarding all five positions.

He is just one of those rare ones that seems to have all the tools. At this point I don't know how those skills will manifest themselves against quality opposition. And I don't know how Kruger will use him.

I don't know if Kruger will make him the focal point of the offense or if he will spread it around. They won't be playing street ball out there. They run Kruger's stuff. If he is the focal point, the double teams will come. I don't know how he will handle that.

M'baye presence will make the team much better. I could guess. But, I really don't know how many wins that will tranlsate into. All I know that he is a good one and I'm glad Kruger snagged him.

the comments were more along the lines that there were some other programs that didn't show much interest in the transfer and that they were going to be regretting it when they watch him play. The scout is a regular visitor to OU practices and is extremely high on him. He thought he was the only NBA player on OU's roster at this time. But he felt like he along with the returning talent could be good for 8+ wins from last year.

Our coaches think he will be a first rounder. They are hoping it isn't this year.
