That was our best stretch of basketball coming from being down 19-6 all the way to the end of the half. I also thought our defense the entire second half was very, very encouraging. So good to see guys like Blair and Pledger rotating well in that match-up zone to compliment Cade and Cams' always present effort.
- Cam still needs more stuff run for him. If you look at our offense, he is often the guy standing still spotted in the corner or when he does get the ball up top, he immediately looks to pass. I'd love to see him be the creator and finding Cade and Pledge spotted up. Can he eventually be a guy that looks to find his own stuff? Absolutely. But until then, Coach Capel needs to spoon feed him scoring opportunities. His best offensive game is breaking guys down off the dribble and pulling up from the midrange. Supplement that in with his cuts and putbacks and he will put up 12 a game.
- Carl Blair is gaining confidence and it shows. I love when he plays with swagger and looks to attack. His defense was by far the best that I have seen him play. Let's hope he keeps it up.
- I can't say enough about Cade Davis. The way that he has learned to play within himself over the past few games has been outstanding. He plays that pivot point really well at the 4, and he can cover his area at the bottom of the match-up zone really well.
- I also give Coach Capel a lot of credit with his subbing today. Pledger and Blair are guys that need to feel comfortable and confident while they are in the game and they can only do that by getting extended minutes. I hope that we can work in Thompson and Newell as "guards" in our four guard lineup, but I really can't complain about keeping a tight rotation. There are enough breaks in today's game that guys get plenty of rest.
Good win. Let's keep building.
