Cousins to sacramento

He is taller and longer than P Beverley. Quickness about the same. Beverley's was brought in from Russia ~3 years ago as a hard nosed defensives specialist. Over time his shot and passing have improved alot. Isaiah has as much ceiling as Beverley.

Remember when some here wondered why he was given a scholarship his freshman season?

I couldn't be more proud for Isaiah! I hope he has a long and successful career at the next level. He deserves it.

I hate to pull a Jim Traber but I have to give it up to myself because I was advocating playing Cousins more and other guards (Pledger) less.

I don't think I wondered about why he was given a scholarship, granted I'm not known on here to be the most optimistic. I did question why he played and started a lot freshman year based on some of his head scratching plays. I also questioned a little of his work ethic freshman year. He put that to rest the next year and every year after that. Hopefully a Cousins to Cousins lob party is in effect in Sacramento.

Smash, Who would you compare Cousins to? Maybe not a popular choice among Thunder fans, but I was thinking Patrick Beverley---similar size (though I think Cousins is probably a little bigger), scrapper, willing defender, solid from 3. But you know a lot more about the NBA than me, so I was curious about your thoughts.
I like the Beverley comparison for the reasons you mentioned.

Unfortunately, in terms of overall physical abilities, a lot of guys fit a similar general profile. It's hard for those guys to stand out physically, so what often separates them are intangibles. Beverley's motor and mentality on the defensive end are really unique. He's a guy after whom I would pattern my game if I were Cousins, which is easier said than done. Beverley knows he's being paid to defend, and he does it relentlessly; just as importantly, he accepts his offensive role and isn't trying to do too much.

Smaller guards who aren't shot creators typically only make it in the league when their games complement the guys who do create shots. That means spacing the floor by hitting catch-and-shoot 3s at a decent clip and playing your tail off defensively, even if it's to the point where you draw the ire of opposing players who label you as a pest. It's hard to replicate the intangibles of guys like Beverley or even Dellavedova, but Cousins does seem to have the type of scrappiness and fearless (but not reckless) attitude that you see in those successful smaller, off-ball combo guards that sometimes get labeled as PG based on size. Even then, it takes a bit of luck. Delly wasn't even drafted; Beverley toiled around Europe for a few years. Cousins will at least get his shot, which is all you can ask for.

Bitter sweet. Happy for cousins getting drafted. Feel sorry for him that he was drafted by the dysfunctional Sacramento Kings.

I think I like this in part because if Isaiah makes it out of the D-League, it's going to result in Boogie wearing a jersey that has to say "D. Cousins" and people who don't follow college ball or the draft closely will just be like "Wha? Huh?"

This made me think of when the Sooner football team had three different players whose names began Da. Williams a few years ago.

Kings have signed Aaron Affalo & Garrett Temple during free agency.

Also are letting Curry go, rescinded their qualifying offer.
