Is it just me, or did he bulk up a considerate amount?? He seems like a different player compared to the little scrapper that I remember seeing lastyear. Seems to be in better control of the ball through two games...

I certainly agree with this. That was my major complaint about him last season -- that he played out of control so much of the time -- but so far, so good this season.

Can you believe that Cousins only has 1 turnover in 2 games this season? He has really improved his ball control. Early signs indicate that all our guard took big leaps forward. It's really exciting. The NCAA is a guard's game and we've got plenty.

I think you could see potential from Cousins last year in spite of his shortcomings. I think he's just going to get better over time.

All three sophomore guards are "bulked up" compared to last season. So far, all three seem to have improved their shooting stroke also. Best of all, all three may still have a higher ceiling for even more improved play as juniors and seniors.

Completely agree on his vast improvements taking care of the ball. However, another big reason for his low turnovers is getting him on the wing instead of running the point.

All these guys are gym rats. They cant get enough time on the court. They are special group of kids.

I was told on a Thursday that this past Saturday practice would be at 10:00 am. I get there about 9:50 and could tell by the absence of vehicles that I was way early. So, I go down the ramp to the gym door to see if I could rouse anyone to find out what was going on.

Everything was locked up tight. But, I could hear a ball bouncing in the gym. I knocked to see if someone would let me in. Cousins opened the door. I asked what time practice was supposed to be. He told me that since they had won the night before Kruger had moved the practice back till noon in case anyone wanted to sleep in.

So, I ask, if practice is at noon, why he was there so early. He just shrugged and said he had stuff he needed to work on.

You are right. Kruger is bringing in the right kind of kids.

That's awesome.

Good post. Hope all goes well for Cousins with that attitude. Kruger recruits really good kids.

All three look bigger this year. But in person, Hield looks like he's put on a ton of weight. No doubt that's helping him get to the rim easier this year. This class is going to be a lot of fun by the time they graduate. Heck, they're a lot of fun now. I can't wait to see what they do.

This story gives me one more reason to love the group of guards we have now. This is the kind of dedication OU needed to continue to improve and to attract bigs like our three commits in the 2014 class. No wonder Khadeem Lattin said he can't wait to play with these guys next season.

To paraphrase what MNSooner said earlier, the NCAA is a guards game, and we have a stable full of good ones who are determined to get better. Cousins has come a long way since last year. Now, we know why.
