This is a U-18 title. I think Brooke is only 16. She will be a junior this year and will arrive at OU as Paige and Paige depart. There are older girls, and Olmos is on her team. But, she became the starting pitcher that they used in tournament games.
The Premier U-18 Fast Pitch tournament began with 72 teams made of the best players across the country. Many will start at D1 schools this year. Brooke pitched at least four of the last six games. This was her second shutout of which I am aware. She really handcuffed them.
She looks like she isn't straining herself at all. At 6-0, she seems just to be throwing the ball up there normally. Yet, they had difficulty catching up with it. The announcers seemed to think she wasn't throwing hard. But, she did have excellent location and a variety of effective pitches. Her strikeout pitch is the rise, and it is barely above the letters. She doesn't throw it over their heads. She hits corners, and seems to have an effective screwball and change. I couldn't tell what she was throwing when she got behind, which was rare. But, they couldn't hit it. The three hits were a ground single, a bunt single, and a liner to right. I think she walked two. They hit one ball well, and it carried to the wall in left center, but was caught. Got into trouble once. A popup and a K ended that.
