Danielle Robinson, men's team

This thread was not started to project DRobinson as a player on the men's team. Just that it is to say if 3 more OU men would play with the same dedication, energy, and enthusiasm as she does OU would not have the carppiest team in the Big 12. I would trade TMG,WW and Tiny for 1 male player who was the equivalent of DRobinson. Tired of the big egos and posturing of the OU team.
I swonder of Sherri Coales was the men's coach if our record would have been any better. Couldn't have been worse. Besides the problems with the players, the coach of OU seemed in a permanent stuper through the entire season. Like what am I(Capel) supposed to do about the situation.
The women lost their Blake Griffin (CParis) and didn't do a swan dive like the men.

Look I am proud of the womens team as anybody! Its nice to see an OU team win ball games but lets get real, no womens team is beating any kind of mens team. I would like to have some of that shooting touch some of them have rub off to our guys!

I understand what the OP is saying, but it would probably have the opposite effect.

She could be working her ass off, and the guys would be goofing around not trying owning her. I don't know how that would encourage them to work harder. They'd see the person trying hard failing.

Robinson is better than TJ Taylor
Griner is better than Hardrick

I've been on both side where we've ran some girls out of the gym and where me and soem guys(D1 football players who where good hs basketball players) got ran out of the gym, by a girls team that had a losing record. Robinson's quickness and IQ are better than some of the men's players, but the natural stregnth issue is where there is a mismatch.

DM, your observation is so off the wall, I'm trying to make myself believe there is no way you can be serious. Taylor and Hardrick would dominate Robinson and Griner.

I have an idea the OP was talking about Robinson's heart, enthusiasm and competitiveness to name a few of her fine qualities. If so, the OU men's team could definitely learn a lot from her, and from the team for that mater.

But some have turned this thread into a comparison of the men's team against the women on a basketball court, and there is no way that would be a contest. Any thoughts that OU's women could compete againt the men is such a ridiculous notion it's not even worthy of board space.

Fact: the gold-medal-winning times in women's Olympic track events usually equal the fastest high school boys' time in America in the 15-year-old division in that same event.

The athletic gap between men and women is massive. That could be slightly mitigated by the fact that basketball isn't pure athleticism, but also involves a great deal of skill, but still....the worst walk-on on the OU men's team would CRUSH the best player on the women's team in a game of one-on-one.

Sorry, I meant TJ Franklin. From a skill perspective it's seriously no comparison to me. I think if OU were to put Griner on the floor she would be more productive than Hardrick. She probably could jump higher. She might even be stronger. Robinson is going to offer alot more challenges than TJ Franklin to a defense. Her liability is going to be natural stregnth IMO. Physically men have a definite advantage over women almost 100% of the time. However, you'd be suprised of the ability some women players have and their are some beit very few women players who have the ability to compete on a college level with men.

A few years ago, I watched a soccer exhibition match at the Highland Park stadium. The Highland Park boy's team was one of the top teams in Texas. They played an exhibition against a touring English club (German high school students studying English) from Munich. The club's team consisted of both boys and girls.

It was amusing to watch the highly athletic boys run around and chase the ball while the German Enlish club simply kicked the ball calmly back and forth to each other until they scored. They weren't soccer players, just German kids who had been around soccer all their lives, and they understood enough to be able to play keepaway from much better athletes. They dominated the game, winning about 15-0. That is not a soccer like score. The little girls made absolute fools out of supposedly good highschool boy athletes.

Now, to state that any highschool boys team would beat the OU women is foolish and sexist. They play smarter, and they would make mincemeat out of a lot of boys teams. But, it takes the very best women to play on a men's team. It has been done, and the top women can play with college men. They probably won't be All-Ameicans, but they can contribute. Often, they shoot better. You don't often see women missing half their free throws.

Now, can the OU women play for the OU men? Probably not. But, the OU men could learn a lot from the women, and, frankly, they play a lot more intelligently. If the OU men played like the OU women, they would be in the NCAA tournament.

Is this a joke? Are there sentient people in the world who actually believe things like this?

I can't believe this discussion even goes on anywhere.

Durant couldn't lift 185 once. Courtney Paris benched well over 200lbs on the regular. Kyle Hardrick.......nevermind.

Which question were you answering, DM?

I am confident that Kyle Hardrick is stronger than the strongest female basketball player on Earth.
Careful. Not only was Courtney pretty strong, the player on last year's team that might have shocked you would have been Jenna Plumley. At 5-3, she had the strongest legs on the team as measured by leg lifts. The women do have a weight training program, and a couple have arrived at OU at about 250-255.

Griner is better than Hardrick

Has anyone else heard the rumors about Griner? That she won't try out for the Olympics or international play because she's afraid of taking a blood test. Not for PED's, but afraid other medical conditions might be exposed.

Thank you OU Men's BBall 09/10. These types of threads are what results from posters who are suffering from manic depression due to the lack of anything to do when your team is left out of not only the Big Dance but the NIT also.
