Did anyone ever expect to see this from a Sherri Coale team?

DEAD LAST in conference standings.

:facepalm:sherri175_jpg_xs:

Nope and it going to be worse come start of the conference season. I only hope we are 4-7 but that is no guarantee.

Looking like a mess right now, how in the world did this program get in this shape?

I am not sure what some of you expected out of this young a team. Griping has been correct about our poor recruiting (evaluating, finishing? or whatever) for our upper classes.
Now that our sophomore and freshmen classes have talent, winning, consistency, and smooth play does not come after just over half of our pre-conference schedule. FRESHMEN and Sophomores make up the bulk of our minutes, and all of our go to players. It takes time, patience, indigestion, and allowing players to make mistakes and gain POSITIVE experience. We still have a shot at being pretty good this year, so have patience, gripe about PAST recruiting lapses, cheer this team and give them time to mature and become a good team. Whether it is the end of this year or next.

I think things willl even out by the time big 12 play starts... I thought OU would finish 3rd or 4th, but I think we are behind Baylor, Texas, WVA and Iowa St, I think we finish 5th or 6th... not sure we make the dance at this time tho.

I see that realtimerpi says we will finish 9-9 in conference play. OK?

Quit playing such good teams like U-Conn, DePaul, etc. Let the girls get a few wins under their belt by playing easier teams, and build some confidence in them.

I agree with this completely! schedule tough when you have a good team you think can possibly go far and need the battle experience. don't schedule tougher than anyone else in the country when you do mediocre recruiting and have just an average group of girls!! Not making the big dance because they are losing all their games might be exactly what needs to happen so Sherry Coale wakes up. I'd say our chances of making it this year are 40%. Looks like Texas has lost two of their most valuable players for the season and they won't be as strong this year, so the Big 12 could possibly be down this year.

If OU had the record we have and was playing a bunch of nobodies, we definitely wouldn’t make the dance, playing a tougher schedule will only help down the line.

Just because we haven’t played a conference game doesn’t mean you cannot use game statistics to show a comparison of where we are at this time in the season standings compared to other teams in the conference and nation, Syb.

You want to argue a limited definition of the words “standings” and “conference,” Syb, just to be your normal jerk self.

Unless you are an idiot, you know perfectly well what ESPN was showing and what I was pointing out.

I used no limited definition, simply the accurate definition. I notice that WV and Kansas State are rated below us in the rpi despite having better records. You can be 5-0 and be a bad team. You might be Clemson and be 3-3 with two losses to South Carolina and Tennessee.

You wanted to make a point with a chart that didn't apply. Wait.

I thought only that it was interesting and surprising and would be interesting to the board members.

You can justify your response however you would like to make yourself feel good, but, everyone knows, you were just being an ass.

You mean like posting something to claim that OU was last.

I copy this post of official stats from Norm to make Syb feel better about his miserable self.

Norm:

“Stats don’t mean much at this point but I did notice that Pellington leads the league in turnovers and Madi is 4th. As a team, OU leads the league in turnovers with 22.6 per game.

We are 3rd in FG%
We are 6th in 3-pt percentage
We are last in FT percentage
We are 5th in rebounding
We are 4th in assists and steals

Our offense is ranked 5th in the league and the defense is also ranked 5th.

Texas is not doing particularly well in the stats department. Baylor is the team above all others.”
