Dick Ebersol ran NBC Sports when they had the NFL (AFC), MLB, and the NBA.
In other words, the real money making sports.

Of course, he was still running NBC Sports up until recently. And now they have 1 weekly NFL Game...uh, some NHL...do they still have NASCAR?

ABC and FOX have long had national sports networks.
Even CNN jumped in the game years ago with a failed attempt.
CBS Sports has had a cable channel for several years now.

It was only recently, and it may have been a Comcast decision that
didn't involve Ebersol, that they finally maximized their Golf Channel potential.
And they have only now (very recently) created a NBC Sports channel.

In other words, in the 80's and 90's this guy was ACE, top of the line. But it's 2012, and I am not sure he understands the nature of it all as well as many others. That said, he wouldn't be a bad hire. I do think we need a HIGH PROFILE commish.
