The more I look at it the less im unsure to the answer.

Look, Kruger is incredibly intelligent he had to know something.

We can all agree Mbaye didnt have the best of years, so by no means do he have a year that would make him think he needs to go pro. So to me that means he is going pro either because of his age, to take care of his family, or because he is unhappy at OU.

So, if any of those reasons are true Mbaye has known the entire year that regardless of how well he plays he is going pro due to his age, money, or whatever else...So if kruger truly didnt know, then was he actually involved with the players to get this kind of information out of them?

He knew it was a chance, but you never know 100%. Of course he is involved, he is a players coach for the most part.

I agree I think he was involved as it seems like that anyways.

But he had to of known it was a high chance mbaye was going pro. Simply because he had a "average" year that would not "catapolt" him up into the draft to make big money.
So why would he go pro if he didnt have that kind of year? money, age, whatever else....all reasons he would have known the entire year.

To me it sounds like Mbaye had his mind made up at the beginning of the year that if he graduates regardless of what type of year he has he is going pro. I think Kruger knew.

Based on Kruger's comments, I think at some point Mbaye had given the coaches the impression that he was staying and didn't let them know when he changed his mind.

If this is true then M'baye screwed us royaly

Sometimes things happen and there is no bad intent. Maybe he just didn't know how to tell the coaches? Maybe he didn't make up his mind until after the season was over.

It sucks for OU but I would prefer to think it is just something that happened rather than M'Baye screwing OU.

Some players would find it a difficult conversation to have and would put it off as long as possible. It's another one of those maturity things that young people struggle with.

We have 5 seniors this year, Spangler filled one...Woodard filled another...Hamilton filled the other. And in the past couple of weeks Booker filled the 4th one. That leaves 1 more scholarship to be filled without the departure of M'Baye. So whether he knew M'Baye was leaving or not, he had 5 scholarships to work with and has yet to fill the 5th one.

I don't see why it matters whether he knew M'Baye was gone or not. He has a horrible recruiting class so far...and I don't see why 6 scholarships changes that much from having 5. I could understand if Kruger was working with 2 or even 3 scholarships but he was working with 5.

When a player leaves there can be more to the story. M'Baye may have been a bit of a weasel. But, it is just as likely that Kruger suggested that he leave or it was a mutual agreement.

We got a little good out of M'Baye. I'm glad he came. Now he is gone. Onward and upward.

That is an unfair speculation on your part. Obviously, we are all disappointed that he is leaving, but unless he has come out and said that he knew all year what he was going to do, then there is just no way to know that. It's just as likely that he was waiting until the season ended to make his decision on the matter.

I guess, until someone in the know says something that indicates that they knew beforehand, there is no reason to speculate who knew what.

Why would Kruger suggest that he leave?

Based on his comments this past weekend on OU Review, he sounded surprised and said Amath had talked with his family a lot about this decision so maybe he really didn't let the staff know until later. I got the impression Lon really didn't think he would be leaving before the tourney started.
