Did OU regain some prestige in the Oklahoma media?

It did seem like the Oklahoman finally gave OU its due when their beloved OSU was going through that meltdown midway through the conference season. But I still suspect that the "OSU is the basketball school" media template won't be scrapped anytime soon.

One big reason it bugs me so much is that it shortchanges OU's tradition. And I think that not only hurts recruiting, it also hurts attendance, most likely.

I've been out of state since the '93 season ended. But even our local alumni group is filled with people who don't even know that OU leads the all-time series by over 30 games in men's basketball. Of course, I pounce on that anytime I hear it.

I think if OU gets ranked fairly high to start the season, it'll force the local media to take a little notice. But I also remember hearing some scuttlebutt, a few years back, that the local hacks wanted to dispute OU's "best programs since the 64-team field started" ranking by ESPN, since it was 20 spots above where they put OSU. That's more of an agenda than fact (although this was before the TMG-Tiny-Warren trainwreck of 2010).
