He won his title with big stiff Kendrick Perkins in the middle. Seems to me DeAndre Jordan is his kind of guy.

Paul Pierce is a bigger piece over KG IMO.

If they could roll with

Paul
Billups
Pierce
Blake
Jordan

With Bledsoe, Barnes, Crawford, Caron Butler coming off the bench, coached by Doc. That should be pretty potent.

Not sure Stern or the NBA can do anything about the Celts buying out PP & the Clips picking him up.

Boston may have better options for Pierce than buying him out. Cleveland has offered two early 2nd rounders in the draft this year. I'd like to hold out, and maybe get their 2nd first this year. But if not, you'd think two seconds would be better than just releasing him.

Rivers should improve the Clips, but I think a lot of Doc's success in Boston was due to KG and PP. We'll see what he can do what the Clippers have. And Bledsoe is probably only there for a year. Doubt he sticks around with Paul locking up that starting pg spot for the next five years.

WT, if you're the Clips do you offer up Bledsoe and Blake for Howard?

Only 1 of those guys is a guaranteed quarter when healthy and that's Howard. His injury is more than likely something that completely heals you would think.

I actually like the Cavs getting Pierce.

Irving
Waiters
Pierce
Triston Thompson
Varajeo

With Speights, Gee, Miles, Ellington, Zeller & the #1 pick. Team could be solid.

I don't, but I'm not a big Howard fan. I just don't think he has what it takes mentally.

That said, I don't think it matters much. Everything I've read suggests that there is almost no way the Lakers would deal him to the Clippers.

Not sure what I'd do with Bledsoe if I were the Clippers. Maybe nothing right now. There were rumors that Doc really wanted to coach Bledsoe, and Doc is known for going with "small" lineups. Bledsoe may be able to get a lot of run in this upcoming season. Doesn't change anything in regards to him being a FA after next season, but they may keep him around to start the season.

And even though Stern would likely block any such move, I'm not 100% sold that the KG to LA talk is done.

Because Perkins played alongside Garnett, an elite defender and midrange shooter who covered up Perkins' weaknesses. The Clippers currently have nothing comparable to KG on their roster, let alone 2008 KG.

Boston's defense fell apart this season whenever KG was on the bench. It'll be interesting to see how Doc's defense fares without a really good defensive big.

And they can't bring Billups back as a starter. He's turning into Derek Fisher.

That's the thing that worries me about Howard. He played better later in the season, but who knows if he ever fully recovers from that injury? Back surgery isn't something that guys just automatically bounce back from.

If he's healthy, he's worth a king's ransom.
