Does it help or hurt a conference to have a team that dominates the league year after year (like Kansas does the Big-12)? In football they used to call us OU and the 7 dwarfs. And it was not a compliment.

If it helps, in what way?

If it hurts, in what way?

Clearly this is a non-competitive conference in terms of who can win the title. Will there ever be a team that can challenge Kansas and take away the title? If you think so, what is the evidence?

It doesn't help or hurt. If we put teams in the sweet 16 then the conference was pretty good. If everyone loses in the first round then the conference was weak.

Almost every conference has a team like KU. Kentucky dominates the SEC. Duke and North Carolina to a lesser extent dominate the ACC. Michigan State has been very good in the Big Ten. Arizona is the top dog in the Pac 12. I don't think it really helps or hurts.

Keep in mind, for the majority of the existence of the Big XII, Kansas only had to play home and home with the north teams. During that time, the south was much more competitive. Kansas had a couple of really good teams during that span, but also wouldn't have won the title in a few of those years if they were playing home and home with the south teams.

They do benefit from officiating and their tournament history of bad losses proves that. It was obvious earlier in the year that it's bad for the league when the conference was easily considered the toughest and KU wasn't really in the conversation for a 1 seed. They aren't the best team in this league and pretty much everyone knows it. If not for the biased officiating, they probably have 7 or 8 losses.
