Dominique Elliott Commits to Oklahoma per his Twitter Account

We may not win the Big 12 or go to a Final Four with the current roster(s) LK is putting together, but we can win a lot of games, and bring our program back to a respectable level. And from THERE, LK can slowly bring in a few better players to elevate the program.

If you try to recruit only the studs with the shape our program is in, and you strike out b/c they want to go somewhere they can win, we end up with scraps. I'd rather take a bunch of players from that middle level, and build a complete roster.

This is so true. While I'm not blown away by some of these players, I trust Kruger knows what he's doing. Capel obviously didn't and when he swung and missed it left us in bad shape. Lon Kruger has a proven track record of success. He can evaluate talent and he knows how to coach a team. He knows what players we need to win and he's not wasting time chasing players that will never come to OU.

juco freshman stats are often pretty pedestrian... will be interesting to see how he does this year.

Exactly. And he still had 9 boards. I won't get worried unless his numbers don't improve.

I have to agree that im not really excited about this commentment. Im on board with DM.

Although I am excited about woodward, so far he is the only guy in the class that I am excited about. Last year we had three guys that I was pumped to get. Cousons, H, and H.

This is the type of mentality that got Capel in trouble. I would rather have good ball players who work, play hard and know their role instead of players like TMG and Tiny Gallon who think they are stars.

See I completely dissagree.

In my opinion caple got in trouble because he didnt know how to manage young men.

Lets say Kruger has TMG, Tiny Gallon, and Willie Warren. I garauntee you that we would have success because Kruger knows how to manage young men. Odds are Kruger would probably run off 1 of the 3 to set an example and to bring order in town, however he would have figured out how to coach the other three.

In my opinion we did TMG, Gallon, and Warren a diss-service. They needed someone to be very strict and to lay the law down not someone who gives them enough rope to hang themselves. They needed structure.

Heck look at Warren's first year with Blake and Taylor. They both kept the order on the team and Warren did amazing. Year 2 and we have nooone to lay the law down and Warren doesnt do as well because he is fighting with teammates.

To an extent, you're probably right. But great coaches don't often rely on guys that need that much management.

TMG, Gallon and Warren all would've been better with the right coach. But there's a reason why players as talented as Gallon and TMG didn't have programs like UNC and Duke after them hard.

The best coaches usually find players with talent AND the right attitude so they can focus on things other than managing egos.
