Don't over react

We made the Elite 8 in 2003, right? I am sure being a 1 seed had nothing to do with us playing a 16 seed, an 8 seed, and then a 12 seed.

And the same 15 seed that beat Georgetown last year beat our "horrible matchup" of a 7 seed.

yes, we made the elite 8 but of the matchups in that round, ours was by far the worst. Syracuse and their zone defense in New York. That's not hard to admit. Had we beaten Texas and gotten the San Antonio regional, we would have played in the final 4.

I agree seeding makes a big difference in if a team can make a run, but that's not the only factor. Sometimes you draw a team that's hot (83 -- Bradley; 92 -- SW La, etc.) and sometimes you just get a matchup nobody wants (96 -- Temple). Sometimes even when you are a lower seeded team you get a favorable draw like Arizona in 99 and then UNCC in the 2nd round.

That's my point which seems to be going over your head, but I'm not surprised. You still think OSU is better than OU.

It must be tough living in a world where every loss means bad coaching, bad players, terrible defense, bad decisions and every win under a 30 point margin is grounds for terrible disappointment and a need to vent. Most of the people I know that vent their frustrations publicly are younger than 18. Adults usually take things more in stride.

And yet you think somehow we are immune to a bad matchup by drawing a lower seed? The chances of a "bad matchup" generally go up as the seeds go down. Do I really need to explain this? Ergo, losing to Tech and losing 3 of 4 = worse seed = higher likelihood of a bad matchup.

That's my point which seems to be going over your head, but I'm not surprised. You still think OSU is better than OU.

Please continue to make things up as you see fit. It sure makes your argument more valid.

1-3.

No, I'm not surprised. Ames is the 2nd toughest place to play in the Big 12 and ISU is very good. West Virginia is playing well and road games in the big 12 are not easy. I think we would have won that game if it weren't for the travel issues. We looked tired and asleep in the first half.

The only loss that surprised me was last night.

so you aren't surprised we lost 3 of 4 against 4 teams ranked below us in our conference ......when we had been playing really good basketball.

Now we aren't playing at the level we were earlier ,with games against Kansas and texas left, 2 other road games against osu and tcu , and that west Virginia team that "is playing well" ....... and you think we are going 4 of 5.

Makes sense

If you listen to Big 12 basketball talk all of the talking heads say ISU is better than OU, so not all the losses were to worse teams or teams ranked below us. ISU was ranked 16 at the time and we were 23, so they were ranked higher than us. And, West Virginia is playing well. That doesn't mean we can't beat them at home though.

We've already beaten Texas at Texas and they just got blown out by KSU. We can win that game and OSU doesn't have Smart we should win that game. I don't think we lose to TCU unless we have a monumental collapse which is possible especially after losing last night but I think that game will get our attention.

I'm not going to convince you of anything, and I realize that. You have 69 posts in 5 years and most of those were when Capel was sucking it up or when Kruger loses. That's fine, but at least get your facts straight. Is that asking too much?

You are too big of a fan to look at in objectively .

You are right, tech and West Virginia are improved but guess what... we are worse. We have taken a step back.

That's what the homers on here cant admit. They need to go rewatch some games from about 3 weeks ago. Look at the ball movement, look at the turnovers, look at the offensive boards. Thats why we had wins then , and losses now.

WE had probably 8 or 9 unforced turnovers last night. We shot 50% from the charity stripe. Is that because west virgina and tech are improved? That has nothing to do with them.

Teams can go through slumps just like they can improve, it happens. But make no mistake about it , these last 2 losses had to do with us more then the othe team, we are just not consistent right now.

Saying you expected to lose 3 of 4 the way we were playing, but expect to win 4 of 5 to finish is nothing more then talking out of your ass and being an absolute homer. It reminds me of the end of animal house"all is well"

We have problems, sure they are fixable, sure this team still has a chance to be REALLY good.....but right now they are average.

Reading comprehension is a struggle for you isn't it? I expected a loss at ISU and after hearing about our travel to WVa I expected a loss there too. For the second time, the only loss of the last 3 that surprised me was last night.

So, anyone who disagrees with you is a homer? I think most folks on this board are pretty level-headed. But, I'm glad you see it as your lot in life to help the "homers" realize the team they like isn't as good as they believe. Pat yourself on the back for a mission accomplished, please.

Really good, IMO, is conference champ level and this team is not a conference champ level. We were picked 6th or 7th in the preseason for gosh sakes. If this team gets a tourney bid, I will be pleased because I expected an 18-12 type season. We could be 21-9 or better.

what does preseason hype have to do with ou? No one knew spangler would make this big of an impact. No one knew Woodard would come in and play at a high level for a freshman. No one expected cousins to improve this much.No one thought Cam would explode like this his sr year.

I guess what you are saying is that ou played over its head/talent early in conference play, and now we have come back to earth since we weren't suppose to be any good anyways.
Pre season polls are ****. Look at texas and osu.
This team was better then everyone expected but that doesn't give them excuse to play below their abilities. It doesn't give them excuse of just being so so , hope to make the tourney and be happy because we weren't expected to do much anyways. Thats loser talk and I hold our program to higher standards then that.
We have a very talented team that is really going to make some noise the next two years. My point we just aren't playing up to our potential right now, and it has nothing to do with the pre season rankings.
If Texas loses the next 6 games and finishes where people though they would preseason, you think they should be happy for meeting expectations.??/

No offense dude, but you aren't thinking logically and no matter what I say you are going to come back with something illogical. I did not expect to lose last night but it happens and the team will improve and they won't have many nights the remainder of the season like last night.

I really don't care what happens to Texas, they aren't my team. Who knows what our potential is this season? We have had a much better season than anyone thought before the year started.

Last, I don't think anyone here is content with being "so-so" and when we make the big dance, that proves we aren't "so-so". That label is reserved for NIT teams. After Capel took a big dump on our basketball program I thought we were 3-4 years from making the NCAA tournament and in year 2 and 3 he made it with teams that have a lot of youth, no height, and a slim bench. If we are still like this 3 years from now, then lets talk but I don't see that happening.
