Doolittle

They are big this year about putting things boots even for minor tweaks or sprains. but im not sure on this case. I hope its precautionary...

Joe Castiglione has hired a fashion expert for the Athletic Department. It's the "new" thing. :)

Walking boots don't concern me. Crutches, scooters, and golf carts do.

Tweaked an ankle yesterday. Limping some, but, walked to the training room.

I'm answering for Gary and all other practice-attendees. Mike Sheperd is the Director of Basketball Operations and serves a role of "bad cop" on Kruger's staff...... and has been with Kruger in various capacities for 25 years. Sheperd doesn't really like fans attending off-season practices. I talk to one of the secretaries to find out day and times when they practice..... but I haven't attended a practice in over a year. Sheperd will tell you that fans aren't allowed..... but they are.

A couple of years ago there was a stalemate over putting out practice reports so kind of an informal compromise was reached to not publish reports. Plus some members gave the practice posters a hard time over some of their observations.

That's how I remember it.......

I remember it the same way, Gary was roasted when he first stated Cousins was running the point last year.

You can attend during offseason practices, they would just prefer you not. I believe it has something to do with regulations, but I'm not sure. They will not turn you away, but it is not advertised like the regular practices that get going in October.

I believe some of our posters were giving reports on off-season activities and were asked to stop by some members of the staff. It may have been just Shepard, but I don't remember for sure.

We used to get really good info from three guys with phenomenal access: ouleopard, vbdad and garyeb2. Unfortunately, for different reasons involving each of those guys, their input has been far less than before. They took beatings for various tidbits and observations that turned out to be right on the money. Ridiculous, but if you're looking for civilized behavior on a message board....well....my oceanfront condo in Laramie can be had for a song.

Sad, because nothing made me more excited than a post from ouleopard in a recruiting thread.

ouleopard was upset when one of his updates was posted over on SoonerScoop. He wanted it only shared on this board. He hasn't posted anything since that date.

We have more posters that attend practices but they have never given practice reports.

Sooner04, you and usedtobe1 are spot on with your assessment of what happened to the practice reports. For the record, Mike Shepherd was the one who asked Gary not to post reports on this web site during the off season. Right or wrong, he seemed to be concerned about the possibility of recruiting violations.

To my knowledge, however, the practices have never been announced as off limits to anyone. After all, Coach Kruger is the one who extended an open invitation to the public four years ago to attend the team's practice sessions.

Unfortunately, the flack that guys like garyeb2, vbdad and ouleopard received from posters on this board (usedtobe1 is right about what happened in leopard's case) had more to do with their decision to stop posting practice reports here than anything Shepherd did. It's truly sad that a handful of posters who would rather argue than show their appreciation for the people who have been willing to give their time freely for everyone who comes here to read or to post.

All three of these guys know how I feel. I have contacted each one by PM more than once to let them know how much the staff here appreciates their contribution to this board. Nothing more I can do but hope they will see their way clear at some point to honor us again with their practice reports.
