I expressed frustration before the season that we had lined up too tough a schedule for a young team that was coming off such a bad year.

Trae and Brady, especially, along with the rest of the guys, have proven my concerns unwarranted. I was wrong, and my hat is off to Coach Kruger and his staff, along with the players. What a fun team they are to watch. Still lots of room for improvement, but of course, so far, very good.

I knew Trae would be a good college player. Didnt think he would be this good, this fast. Manek is a revelation. We will have Doolittle back now, this team is an elite 8 threat.

Wow Wow Wow. They keep doing things I don't think they're capable of. What a win. Young is unreal, but the team as a whole is playing well. Please please bring this into conference guys.

Two points.

The complaints about the slowdown with the big lead remind me of the complaints about Stoops going conservative with big leads. What is never pointed out is that virtually all of those games lead to wins.

On the other hand this team doesn't realize how good they are. The slowdown was not the only thing that made the game closer than it should have been. The first half and early second half we were playing relaxed and comfortable but after we went up 18 points they began playing tight. Manek was not as relaxed on his shot. Young sort of deferred to others to score and of course Wichita State probably also made some good adjustments. They are well coached.

They remind me a bit of my last team at Star-Spencer. The previous year had been a bit rough as we started four sophs and one junior. The next year we were much better and in the early season we had several games where we blew teams away early and then you could almost hear them thinking that they were not good enough to do that. It only took a little communication to convince that yeah they are that good and they went on to end up ranked the #4 team in the state.

Not sure everyone isn't eating some sort of crow at this point - nobody in their dreams could imagine Trae would be this good this fast. He's going to be a top 7/8 pick in this year's Draft.

The thing I never expected was how much better certain players are in a subsidiary role that Trae and Brady allow them to fill. James is a great example. He is a fantastic supporting scorer. Really fantastic in that role. Last year we needed him to be more than that and it's telling how bad he was then compared to how good he is now. Lattin to a lesser degree fits here too along with Odomes. These are players that provide good defense and hustle points. Expect the to do any more and they're failures but defense and hustle points go a long way in a set up with other primary scorers. I personally think to take that next step one of the Lattin/Odomes has to come off the bench---probably Odomes --- but it's amazing how far we've come simply by having primary scorers who want to be primary scorers.

I shared your concern sky. I have to say I’ve been shocked (pun intended) on how they started the year. Trae’s great. Kam had a great game today, he’s so good. And Brady’s been amazing so far (could be future nba’er at this pace). Just keep winning and ride this thing as far as it goes. I’ll be in Tuscaloosa in January. Can’t miss this club and can’t wait to see them in person.
