ESPN's "experts" make their Final Four predictions

They love them some Kansas!

Boy, more love for KU than I thought there would.

I like the Big 12 having those type of expectations, KU has carried that banner for so long, glad the Sooners are forcing their way into the conversation.

One has OSU??! Lol

I think he meant Oklahoma.

Here's the FF breakdown:

17 picked Kansas
15 picked Kentucky
16 picked Maryland
20 picked North Carolina
8 picked Virginia
6 picked Michigan State
5 picked Wichita State
5 picked Duke
4 picked Oklahoma
4 picked Cal
4 picked Gonzaga
2 picked Villanova
1 picked Vanderbilt
1 picked Purdue
1 picked Indiana

Here's the NC breakdown:

8 picked Kansas
6 picked UNC
5 picked Maryland
3 picked Virginia
3 picked Michigan State
2 picked Kentucky

It's interesting to me that no one picked Iowa State at all, I believe they are the only top-10 team not represented.

Which one? I don't see that.

Seems to have been corrected. Was clearly a mistake.

It's interesting to note that none of the oswho fans have slithered over here yet. Are they not excited about their season?

I am also surprised. KU should be the Big 12 favorite again simply because of their home court ways. I am sure they are capable of winning it all but they do not seem to be so powerful to me that I would predict it. I guess they are as good a pick as any though.

There is one right above you. But alas, it has been nice...

Lol. I grew up in Edmond and went to UCO and I love college basketball so I have no animosity toward any of the state schools. I had Tulsa season tickets for about 6 years back when Self was there and they had just built the Reynolds Center. I still go to TU or ORU games when I can get free tickets.

KU returned the majority of their team, added 3 highly ranked recruits, and still have Bill self as their coach. Perry Ellis sill there has to be a huge reason why as well.

I'm actually shocked at how excited people are for Maryland. They've got some good pieces, but I'll have to see it to believe it. They were a shade behind OU last year IMO...

That's what happens when you add a top 10 player in the country to your team and a former duke player as well to go along with some key guys returning.

They'll be very good, I just don't know that they will be able to play together at a high level on both sides of the floor. I think their returning guys are a bit overrated. They were nothing special defensively last year and nowhere near elite offensively.

They had a good run toward the end of the season last year (9-2 in last 11), but that included:

* 2 wins against Nebraska
* 2 wins against Indiana (also nothing special)
* Wins against Rutgers and Penn State and Michigan (8-10 in big 10)

They lost in the second round of the Big 10 tourney and the second round (32) of the NCAA tourney (to West Virginia by 10).

To their credit, they did beat Wisconsin. They lost to every other good team they played in the last 11 games. They also got BLITZED by Ohio State, Indiana, and Iowa on the road.

Their SOS was in the 50s (ours was top 10).

I want to see them prove it.

They return Trimble who avg 16.7ppg as a freshman and Layman who avg 10.9 ppg last year.
They add 3 5 star(Top 25) players to their roster. 2 of them are transfers.
Robert Carter redshirted last year
Sulaimon transferred from duke
Diamond Stone top 10 freshman

They also have a bunch of highly ranked players who were freshmen last year returning. They have 4 guys on their bench who played last year. They are deep at every position. And Turgeon is a good coach.

I'm surprised that UConn is getting no love. They added Gibbs to go along with Purvis, Hamilton, Miller, and Brimah. And they also added a top 25 SG in Adams. PG's take teams far in the tournament and they added one in Gibbs who averaged 16.3ppg last year. 5 seniors and some talented freshmen. They are my preseason pick to win it all.

Eh. Not sure why everyone is so wrapped up in Sulaimon?

His stats have diminished in each of his previous 3 seasons, and he only averaged 7 PPG last season for Duke, most of which came against no-name schools

(only scored 3 against Mich State, 0 against Connecticut, 0 against Louisville, 3 against Notre Dame, etc.)

Robert Carter is coming off of a meniscus tear, you never know if he'll even be close to the same player he was (averaged about 10 PPG for a BAD GA Tech team)

Stone should be good! But we all thought Cliff Alexander was going to be good too, and we all saw what happened there.

And Turgeon has never proven himself to really be a good coach.

At Texas A&M, he never made it past the 2nd round of the tournament.

And in his 4 previous seasons at Maryland, he has been to the NCAA tournament once (second-round loss), been to the NIT once, and missed the post-season ALL TOGETHER two times (couldn't even make the NIT or the CBI).

Maryland should be good, but I'm not buying the hype just yet.

Sulaimon's ppg may be low, but you are talking about a Duke team that won a championship even without him. They were loaded at the SG position.

You make good points about Turgeon but you are also talking about aTm. He was very successful at Wichita State before going to aTm. He took WSU to the elite 8. And 2 of the teams he lost in the tournament to while at aTm went on to the final 4.

I think this will be the best team he's had on a roster and b/c of that they should be very dangerous.

Sweet 16, although to be fair, the team that took them out (George Mason) also went to the Final Four.
