Ethan Chargois to Oklahoma

Anyone familiar with the scouting report here. He’s 6’9 which is interesting.

The writing was basically on the wall as far as his selection of a school close to home.

1 year loaner of a backup post. He’s not super skilled offensively and will not wow anyone. He’s a rebounder and defender. A big body, which we’re lacking. Considering all the front court players Texas is getting this one is just meh.

In keeping expectations realistic, he just needs to be better than Victor would have been had he stayed.

If Coach Moser hits it out of the park with the last scholly, no one will complain that we got a role player instead of a potential star with one of the signees.

Did we get tired of waiting for Williams?

We weren’t getting Williams and didn’t try very hard because we understood his recruitment. We reached out, yes, but saw the writing on the wall quickly.

Is he looking at texas still. How do they have room for all these guys? Guessing brown and the other big are going pro? Otherwise makes no sense to me.

How many transfer posts is texas taking this year? Good grief.

Probably:

Dylan Disu
Bryson Williams
Timmy Allen
Christian Bishop

All 4 double digit scorers in the post. Disu, Williams, Allen all three post-season award winners in their conference. Frontcourt is going to be tough.

Welcome to OU Ethan!

Honestly it won't take much to be better than Kur/and or Vic. If he can do almost 9 and almost 6 at OU like he did at SMU, that will be good. Oklahoma boy too, which is always nice.

Now, Porter can focus on '22 bigs..

Well, they’ve had lots of really good bigs the last few years and it doesn’t always translate to wins. Plus only two can play at a time because playing three just isn’t a viable option in today’s game.

Agreed. Just use this last ship on a big-time player like Bryce Thompson, and I'll be ecstatic about where we're at.

Did they lose all their post players off last years roster? I would think transfers with 1 year left wouldn’t want to sit on the bench all season. I haven’t paid any attention to texas roster this past year, or ever really.

Exactly. And I think Chargois could be a nice piece. We have had a lot of posters clamor for reliable bigs who can rebound and play solid post defense. I have no idea what his defensive reputation is, but it seems like he may fit the bill. I can’t imagine Moser offering him if he wasn’t at least average defensively.

I worked with his mom in Tulsa. Last name pronounced Shag wah. Good family. I’ve seen him play 30 HS / AAU games. He will help.

Most of their guys from last year turned pro

Not stoked, but as some have said, he's an improvement from the guy he's replacing.
