Many of you talk about Cade like this is his team, and that he is the only experienced guy who can lead these young players.

Wasnt he in that same situation last year? He was a third year guy with a bunch of freshman and a sophomore.

Was it an impossible situation because of the character issues for Cade to be "the leader"? Or maybe he just isnt that type of guy?

Why do all of you assume and/or expect that will be his role?

I think the expecations were for Willie Warren to be a leader similar to Blake was the year before. Cade was still only a role player off the bench at that time with two years of college on his belt. If anything he was most likely the fourth option for leadership on the team (Willie, Tony and even Wright).

I think the reason so many including myself expect him to have this role is of the few returning players we have, they most likely respect Cade because he puts in the time on and off the court to succeed. The assumption is carried over to the young guys being impressed with that attribute of Cade as well. He is a local kid who knows what it means to be a Sooner and has given it all for the team in the past. I think it is fair to assume it is his team with all the turnover since last year.

I agree, that's why Cade, Pledger and I think Fitz were voted captain.

Sam is right, last year's squad was supposed to be "Willie's team," which may explain why Cade didn't step to the forefront and take over. But to his credit, he led by example. No one on the team played harder than Cade Davis. He rarely took a play off.

I think we'll see a more vocal CD this year, but this team needs more than one leader. Maybe Pledger and Fitz or one of the newbies will take on that role.

I think CJ could be one of the new guys that takes a leadership role.

I know he won't be on the floor this season so he won't be a leader in that aspect, but I think Osby is going to be a leader on this team. Only time will tell who will step out of the shadow to really lead this team, but it seems like we have more guy this year that Want to be in that position more so than the last several years. And that had made me really excited about what this team is going to bring to the table this season.

Cade definitely has to assume a strong leadership role, but truthfully if he is our best player we are in serious trouble. Now if we have 7-8 that play with his heart we may be ok and can finish .500.

I think Cade has been a pretty good leader for a while. He may not show it in games much, but he has always worked hard.

Cade did assume that role last year....it was seen by his hustle, defense and stepping up in whatever ways the team needed him last year...he isnt the type of guy that will win games for you, because he doesnt have that type of talent but you could tell he was a clear leader last year...and i mean this by his effort and attitude, not everyone has to be vocal to be a leader...

and obviously you guys know this, just because you lead doesnt mean everyone will follow....a lot of those guys last year had their own agendas and thought they were bigger than what was going on in Norman...

I could see some of those guys last year looking at Cade like "who the hell does he think he is, imma do my own thing"...doesnt make him a bad leader, just means he isnt Kobe or MJ...
