Faith 7 Basketball Game

I know that they have had some problems getting sponsors for this game in the past and had heard that it might fold soon. I don't know if that is the case right now though.

Shame, this is by far my favorite HS all star game in oklahoma.

Thursdays Tulsa World said the game was June 4 at 7:30 in Shawnee. No roster details given.

I was in far-north OKC yesterday and was able to find an Edmond Sun. They had a short article that mentioned both Kristian Doolittle and Tre Evans are playing for Oklahoma in the game.

I've looked for the full rosters and still can't find it. If anybody does please post a link.

I'm planning on going, but based on last year I thought King McClure & Odomes were going to play huge roles for their team.

Good deal, it would be appreciated. I hear you on Odomes but he's only a soph. Would be cool if McGusty is on the Texas roster, or is he now considered a Kansas HS recruit?

My guess is Kansas. The Texas roster is extremely hard to predict. Most of their top prospects decline, but that also allows the game to be more competitive. That being said, I think this is one of the deeper oklahoma classes as far as D1 prospects go.

Most years, the Texas team rolls into Shawnee for the annual Faith 7 Basketball Bowl with a slew of Division I college prospects, but Oklahoma has reversed the trend for this year’s renewal of the game.

The 51st annual Faith 7 Bowl is set to tip off at 7 p.m. Saturday at Oklahoma Baptist University. It will be highlighted by a star-studded Oklahoma roster that includes players who signed with Division I schools, and others who had D-I offers.

The roster includes four players from The Oklahoman’s Super 5, Kristian Doolittle of Edmond Memorial (Oklahoma), Mustang’s Jakolby Long (Iowa State), Southeast’s Dashawn McDowell (SMU) and Edmond North’s Tre Evans.

Evans had signed with Old Dominion, but asked to be released from his letter of intent and will play at Kilgore Junior College in Texas.

Oklahoma also has D-I signees Kellen Manek of Harrah (ORU) and Marcus Dickinson Jr. of Norman North (Boise State).

Here are the full rosters:

Oklahoma roster: Marcus Dickinson Jr., Norman North; Kristian Doolittle, Edmond Memorial; Tre Evans, Edmond North; Gideon Gardner, Pawnee; Curtis Haywood II, Mustang; Marquis Johnson, Putnam City West; Jakolby Long, Mustang; Kellen Manek, Harrah; Dashawn McDowell, Southeast; Micah Speight, Putnam City North.

Coaches: John Coons, Catoosa; Keith Quaid, Kiowa.

Texas roster: Deon Barrett, Lancaster; Isaiah Brown, Flower Mound; Christian Edmondson, Flower Mound; Cameron Hill, Nocona; Markques Houston, Aldine-MacArthur; Junior Loya, Joshua; Julian Miranda, DeSoto; Camron Talley, Rockwall-Heath; Andre Washington, Fort Worth-Arlington Heights.

Nice find, don't recognize any texas kids, but I'm sure there are some D1 guys in there. Should be pretty tough to beat that Oklahoma lineup I would think. Can't wait to hear how Doolittle looks.

Coach has Brady Manek put on any muscle? He was extremely thin last season. He can really shoot the ball. Hopefully the camp is teaching defense because the Harrah team didn't really play defense.

He has put on some. Still thin but likely 15lbs heavier than he played at last year.
Very athletic, handles it well, shoots it lights out.
I think a for sure RS year. But he can play.

Team obviously won't be as good. Defense is optional. He's probably got 25-10 with 5 blocks. Timing is really good.

New head coach said he's 6'9. Pretty accurate I think.

Nice news about Manek
For those going to the Faith 7 game:
Please take a little video of Doolittle Thanks in advance

Got to attend / work the Faith7 game. Really entertaining game with some good athletes. Doolittle looks every bit the part of D1 player. Handled it a little better than I realized. Good vision. Great attitude. Looking forward to seeing him on campus. Tre Evans also played and played well. Fun to watch. Really cool to see Curtis Haywood II on the court as well.

Can't tell much from games like this other than some athleticism and mechanics. Doolittle has both at a high level. Marcus Dickinson from Norman North took home Oklahoma Team MVP. Hate to see that he's headed to Boise, but he may well have a good career there. Sees the court really, really well.

Little Manek (Kellen) is headed to ORU and that will likely be a good fit for him. He is able to handle the ball better than I would think (not great, but no stiff) and his shot has a really low release - but he's pretty accurate so I'm not sure how much you can even mess with it. It's not a fine tune but overhaul if you want to adjust it.

Texas sent some good players but not the top. There were a few with a nice skill set. Jamaar Sandifer took Texas Team MVP. He is headed to Kilgore next year - recruited by Dallas Baptist, Mercer and North Texas.

Fun game. Poor publicity this year. I did hear that there are some local business people who are really wanting to invest to bring it back to a high level and highly attended event.

Next year likely adding a girls game. Moving the date as well.

Thanks for the report Sam. Are there any highlights of this game to look at?

Went to the game and oklahoma team was really impressive. Played hard, unselfish, and were really talented.

Doolittle was the most talented but also looked the least interested. Good hands, moves really well, good defensive rebounder, looks about 6'8.

Evans, Johnson, Speight all look like small or mid major D1 players even though none are going.

Dickinson looks like he is going to be a good player for Boise.
