Fire Porter Moser

Nebraska fanbase is in another stratosphere than ou fanbase. It would be foolish to leave for ou.
This is such a silly argument. Nebraska has a better fan base than practicality every team in every sport, but other than volleyball, it’s been a long time since they’ve been any good in anything. Sometimes people on this board act like attendance is the only factor coaches look at. If OU and Nebraska both had come open in the same offseason, there is zero chance OU would have been behind Nebraska in the pecking order. Now, Fred obviously has it rolling there and may not want to leave, but that’s different than acting like it’s a better job. The only reason it feels tjs way now is because MMM has done such a terrible job while Fred has Nebraska going the opposite direction.

NIL is everything now. That’s how you measure how good a program is against others. I firmly believe players will play in high school gyms if the $$ is right. Relationships with the coach is probably second. But a distant second.

I remember, in the offseason, LSU athletics made a statement that they were gonna stick with McMahon and give him more NIL to work with. They are definitely better this year but still not very good. I think OU did a similar thing with Moser. Give him more NIL. Well, both teams are still gonna finish with a disappointing season. Bubble teams at best. Just another example that shows that coaching, and evaluation are the two most important things for success. It’s tempting to just save the buyout money and give more to NIL but that’s the shortcut that rarely works

It’s a big variable in college basketball for a head coach to consider. And it’s been an issue that has worked against ou since basically after Tubbs. Nebraska has better fan support, it’s not really debatable.

The NIL is comparable. What area is ou significantly better than Nebraska men’s basketball right now? I don’t see it aside from better history. History matters less and less each day in the NIL era. Take a look at the #1 team in college football if you need another example.

Our coach following Tubbs is a HOF coach. The coach following Capel is a borderline HOF coach. Didn’t hurt us there.

And you have no idea about the NIL. That’s pure speculation. I would guess we paid a heck of a lot more for our four high profile transfers than Nebraska has for guys on their roster.

kelvin was a nobody from wazzu. Not a big time coach whatsoever. He ended up being great and left for a better program. That doesn’t help your narrative.

Kruger was on his last ride at UNLV. Good solid hire but not a big name at that point.

Kelvin stayed for 12 years when he had many opportunities to leave. He didn’t leave till what was then still a blue blood came calling.

Lon wasn’t on his last ride. He had another decade left in him at that point.

In hindsight, winning those three games to sneak into the tourney last season was not a good thing for the program. We of course got bounced in the first round, and it left us stuck with this dips&&t for another year. Missing the tourney would have been worth it if it led to us firing this fool and hiring a competent coach.

you assume joe c would have hired a competent coach.
i'm not convinced he would have.
much rather see the new guy do it...whoever that might be.

Yea the new guy might have sucked. The current guy has definitely sucked for five seasons.

Cignetti has like no 4 or 5 star players (in the most cutthroat sport in "NIL") but yet he's the best coach in the country so hes playing for a natty..

I've said before that if you have Loser Moser KU's roster, hed still go under .500 in conference.. he makes no one better and he "coaches" losing basketball

It wouldn't have mattered. He was staying regardless. And he might get next year too.....

I’m not as high on our roster as some, mainly because our bend isn’t good, but having said that, there is little doubt we have a better roster than three of the five teams we have lost to. Yet again, coaching matters.
