Fire Porter Moser

Regardless of your feelings on this subject, it is essential to remember that Joe C. is retiring. Usually, but not always, the outgoing AD doesn't like. to fire a coach as he walks out the door and a new AD doesn't want to have to hire a new coach right off the bat. This obviously doesns't apply if a coach resigns for another job.
The best time to be rid of a coach is right as you start. No AD wants to inherit a mess, and there's no way that Moser can stay with the way this season is trending presently. Unless the team does a complete 180 the rest of the way, he's gotta be gone.

Not sure if this has been posted or not… but interesting article. We are at 6.5 million, which is still second to last in SEC. Still in my opinion, this doesn’t warrant anything in defense of Moser because they are talented. I also think boosters like they were previously with venables are hesitant to just pour money into the basketball program because Moser hasn’t proven anything!! It took venables to get to the playoff this year, and all of a sudden you see the money start coming in with this transfer portal class and 2027 recruiting class.

Here comes Loser Moser with a new set of excuses again lol. "I wish I could have made it with at OU but the fan support and NIL buy-in was just not there, no matter how good of a coach I am..." - prolly what he'll say after he's fired

I'm not too worried about what he says after he's gone.

I liked the Moser hire when it happened. My late dad, who had tix in LE4 since the late 70s and walked-on for a year to OU when he was in school being a kind small school star and JUCO ball.

He gave up on Moser in year 2. I thought that was a little hasty.....and I do think I was right.

I have avoided the arguments on this board about Porter Moser.

I think a lot of the people who think they have been "right all of the time" are wrong in their way to be in the world. Sports fans in 2026 have a lot personality defects or weird nonsense about the coaching or think they know more. Fire the Coach everytime.

However, each of our last 4 coaches have made the Elite 8, 3 of them the Final Four.

If this team rallies behind their beleaguered coach, awesome. NIL portal makes that unlikely.

obviously, minus some kind of amazing bad news bears stuff.....it's time for OU and PM to part ways.

I agree that’s not a lot compared to other teams. And it’s all market based. So you can’t say “A coach should be able to put together a roster with _______ amount.” Gotta stay competitive.

Moser has one positive, imo, other than being a “nice guy.” I do believe he can pull some talent. I think he’s really good at selling whatever product and then not delivering on that. 6.5 million, compared to the other schools, is not very much at all. I commend him for bringing some good talent to Norman. Too bad he’s not good enough at anything else.

Objectively your dad was correct.

Quotes from the Bob_P article from the fellas at Scoop:

“I think we got to continue to develop depth,” said Moser following the game. “And when the depth doesn’t get the minutes – it’s what comes first. You know you earn minutes. Tom Brady has a great video. He talks about his reps. And he’s like I didn’t get my reps earlier on. Then I got two reps and I made great. My two reps were great and then I got four and then I got six. We’ve got to have that mentality with the guys that are maybe only getting five, six minutes. Maybe that turns into 12.

“But you cannot not be deep in this league. We have to get deeper productions because if you’re not deep, it puts so much pressure on your first five to all of them got to play well. And that’s just unrealistic. And you know, I thought Nijel played really well at A&M and I thought X was really good tonight. The biggest challenge we’ve got to continue to build that depth.”

I mean, this is the deepest team he has had...what in the world is he saying? He gave Forsythe wayyy too many minutes. He is the smallest player that we have against the biggest lineup we have ever faced.

W.T.F.
Don’t get me wrong, this is nonsense from Moser but not sure why anyone takes coach media availability seriously.

It’s all just recycled platitudes, especially when things are falling apart.

I slightly disagree. There are some coaches who are great to listen to because they give real insight and are very informative. Moser is very much a walking cliche, though. It's like he thinks he is giving a motivational speech when he meets with the media.

I’ve seen great content from camps and will admit I’m not watching every interview with every coach but would love to get specific examples of insight that you have gotten from an in-season media availability session.

Stoops, by far the coach I would listen to the most, was great at rehashing platitudes and non-answers to aggressive questioning. I gained absolutely no insight from years of his Tuesday pressers lol.

Kelvin is great. Izzo is very honest. Self says exactly what is on his mind without throwing players under the bus, and you can learn a ton of basketball listening to him talk strategy. I never watched his weekly pressers but Majerus was great to listen to in interviews. Those are a few who come to mind.

East side is usually where I park for some reason....so maybe that is why
If you park at the south end near the south exit it’s probably not that bad. Or potentially the north exits. But there’s only one exit for the whole east side and it gets jammed up if you try to park near the east entrance.

I keep hoping to see Porter’s name show up on the point shaving list. I want everything to make sense.
Well the people who ran that ring probably were smart enough to realize they didn’t need to bribe him to shave points. His normal, all-out coaching style still guarantees that OU will play as if they are shaving points. 🤣

The athletic dept is sending out text messages begging fans to come to the game Saturday. $10 tickets. They know. Desperation has set in.

There is still a part of me paranoid that MMM will survive another season because he will get lost in the shuffle with the transition from Joe C to whoever the new AD is. But I think now that even most the beat writers (being generous with that label) are saying it’s time to move on, it would be very hard for them to keep him. Of course, if we are going to continue losing, the odds of him being canned go up if more of the losses are as embarrassing as Tuesday was.

A small part of me could see tomorrow being the annual game where the team and coach pull their heads out and play really well against a good team. But Bama has lost two of their past three and is no doubt looking to get back on track, so I’d think they will come in focused.

Imo there's like a 20% chance he stays even with a disastrous season

Honestly, that's a good thing. While they have some sales for tickets and things, I don't feel like it's marketed well. Before the Florida game I got a text reminder that the game was happening and to find someone to use my tickets if I couldn't go. But that was the day of the game.
