Fire Porter Moser

Why is Texas two? Money? Why are they viewed so highly? They’ve done nothing.
Money. Texas is one of a handful of schools that are big enough and rich enough to be decent in basketball without even trying. Which is what they've been. One Final Four in my lifetime, 2003. They're good but not great. Would Beard have taken them to the next level if not for his personal issue? We'll never know.

They have a nice new arena. It was designed to seat 16-18K for concerts, but with the curtain above the upper deck to reduce the capacity for basketball to 10K.

Wish we were doing that too, just in case and for future proofing. I like to ball out all the way tho

We're not in the same financial sphere as Texas. Ohio State and Michigan are, and that's about it.

It'd be nice to have that arena, but we don't need it. What we're doing is fine, though a couple thousand more seats would be nice. Smaller, nicer, with more amenities is the trend. That's what Baylor and Houston did.

Austin needs a big concert arena. That's why they built Moody Center so big. The Erwin Center was big enough for concerts, but too big for basketball. So, when they built Moody, they kept the size they need for concerts but downsized for hoops.

OKC already has a big arena and has a replacement on the way. The Norman arena can handle concerts that don't need the size of the OKC arena. If we ever need to sell 16,000 seats for a basketball game, that's an awesome problem to have. In the meantime, we'll have our nice small arena around 2030.

Texas at 2 is hilarious. Florida has won three national championships in basketball in the last 20 years, and Texas is ahead of them? Texas, who has only been to one Final Four in its history? This forced narrative that is out there that Texas is the best job there is in every sport is getting very tiresome. I’ve been hearing it for my entire adult life. If it was such a great job, they’d have had far more success than they have had over that long a period of time. If they have issues where all the money that’s available comes with strings attached that make it really hard to have sustained success there, that should be factored into the evaluation. Maybe these people who put these lists out just don’t really know what the ingredients for a successful athletic program actually are.

I doubt this will happen, but feel like it has reached the point to where if we lose at Vandy on Saturday that he should be fired after the game. This would at least give interim coach the entire week to prepare for Georgia, not that the season matters at this point.

No. Stay the course. Let porter loser lose his remaining games. Firing him does nothing

no chance that Joe C is going to fire someone in his final week as Athletic Director and realistically i don't think Denny is going to fire a HC during his first few weeks on the job. I guess anything can happen but i expect Moser will finish out the season as HC then be let go 24-48 hours when the team arrives back in Norman after the SEC tournament.

Hmm things not going as well in Houston?

They are a poor athletic department. They had to spend a ton of $ just to get into the Big 12. They average about 25K in a 40K seat stadium for football games. They don't have the donor base that UT, A&M, or even OU have. They've let multiple athletic directors go b/c they can't raise money.

But they have a BMD in Tilman Fertitta who paid to rebuild the arena and gives Kelvin most of what he needs.
