Fire Porter Moser

As a HC, kelvin sampson only had a losing record in conference 5/33 times (so winning or tied in conference record 28/33 times)
As a HC, Lon Kruger only had a losing record in conference 7/31 times (so winning or tied in conference record 24/31 times - i took out his UT-RGV aka UT-Pan Am years as they were independent)

Yeah, we want PM to get a good job as soon as possible. If the buyout is like most coaches' buyouts, his getting a better job reduces the payout on our end.

But to your point, the real key is that his process of needing another job begins no later than March 16th.
I pray it is already in progress. I remember some of the Moser apologists on the board arguing that he was in a tough spot year one because he was hired fairly late (which is BS because he was in place before the tourney even ended). Denny should already be actively vetting candidates and talking to agents and people behind the scenes so that when March 11 rolls around, and he cans Moser, he has narrowed it down to a handful of targets. That could give us an edge over programs that are on the fence about retaining their current coach and are waiting to see how their season ends. I see no need to wait more than a few hours after we get knocked out of the conference tourney to pink slip Moser.

He will be our coach through 2028. Until OU fires a basketball coach for something other than NCAA issues, I won't believe they will.

There’s really no reason to wait that long. Can his ass now and start the search officially.

Oh I agree, just unfortunately don't trust it’ll happen, even when the new guy takes over on the 15th. Who knows, though. Maybe are one, 30-pt beat down away from him being shown the door.

If OU decided to part ways with Moser after five seasons, it would cost them around $5.83 million. According to Moser’s contract, which was obtained by SoonerScoop, if the school decided to fire Moser without cause, it would owe him 75% of his remaining contract.

Offset language? Please tell me Moron Joe C has it in there

Also in the article:

"The buyout would be paid monthly. OU would not have to pay the buyout if he were to land another head coaching job elsewhere."

I'm sure OU has tried to nudge him out the last two years by encouraging him to find another job. Hence, the floating of rumors regarding the jobs at DePaul and Villanova. Those two schools rightly passed on him.

Had we not been the last team left out of the tournament two years ago, he probably would have found it easier to get another gig. (Thank you, NC State)

I don’t think we were smart enough to do that. I think people within the program believed in this doofus for some reason.

Just quickly using KenPom (tracking since 1997):

Seasons with Losing records overall and in conference
Kelvin Sampson - 1/1 (2015, 1st season at Houston)
Lon Kruger - 3/4 (1999 Illinois, 2012 - 1st season at OU, 2017, 2019 - Oklahoma)
Porter Moser - 9/15 (current season counting, 3/4 at Ill St, 4/6 at LC, 2/5 at Oklahoma)

There is cause. Look at the damage he has caused the program. He should owe us for all the damage that’s been done.
