@ebosshoops: Class of 2019 five sta guard Tyrese Maxey will make an unofficial visit to #Oklahoma today. @SoonerScoop

@ebosshoops: Oklahoma also has 2019's Kevin McCullar, Micah Thomas, Jacob Germany and 2020 Rondel Walker on campus today @SoonerScoop

Really impressed by the number quality of top ranked kids Lon is able to get on campus for visits.

I know we are not signing a higher percentage, but it seems to be incrementally improving.

We are in a great spot with Maxey. Also De'vion Harmon

Thomas Germany Walker all local OK kids

I'm no recruiting guru, but I can't help but think landing Trae helped us tremendously with these local kids. It all but erased the memory of last season, in a sense.

Spot on analysis, Sky! Who wouldn't want to play with an elite point guard like Trae?

De'Vion Harmon, the recruit CoachTalk mentioned, is another PG who is will likely achieve an elite, five star status before he's through. He's not far from that right now. He's a 2019 OU recruit. So is his teammate, 6' 6" SG/SF Jalen Wilson.

Honestly OU is not a bad bball school. I know it's been argued before (tier level) but OU has has success.

Having Blake and Buddy now in the league, a FF just 2 yrs ago.

This year looks like a positive climb back up..even next year better (if all goes well).

I think it's like football went through, ya don't have to go to a "power house" to get into the league.

I hope you're right about this year. It's why I've expressed concern about our very tough schedule. We need a significant improvement in our win-loss record this year to keep the momentum going. Being a better team but with a similar (or only slightly better) record will be a setback.

OU has the series lead against every team who is (or ever was, if you're wondering about the 4 schools who left) in the B12 with the obvious exception of KU, & every one of those leads are double digit, sans KSU (9 games) & WVU (only played 14 times, OU leads 9-5).

I tell my local friends up here that stat & they almost to a man don't believe me. I'll usually then direct them to Soonerstats.com, & let them look for themselves. They almost always look at me in disbelief when they see it's true, & say something along the lines of "I had no idea" or such, which I personally attribute to 2 things in no particular order: 1. OU football, & 2. KU basketball. Both have significantly overshadowed OU basketball for the majority of their respective existence, & a darn good basketball program has tended to go under the radar (with a few exceptions) as a result.

We OU fans have had things pretty good.

I would add one other factor: The local media feeling it needed to give oswho equal (read: special) treatment. oswho certainly had its glory days in basketball with Iba at the helm, but the credit the local press gave them for that success extended long beyond his best years (the last decade-plus of his tenure, the aggies were average at best). In fact, I'm not sure they're not still riding on his fumes.

The local media has long treated oswho as the state's basketball school to a degree that was never deserved.

I bet your friends also wouldn't believe that going into the 2006-2007 season, OU had the nation's LONGEST CONSECUTIVE POSTSEASON streak - 25 years (13 Billy, 12 Kelvin). That may be our most impressive stat considering Duke, NC, KU and UK couldn't make those same claims.

Right behind (or across from) that impressive stat above, tell your friends that in seven seasons starting with 1983-1984 through 1989-1990, OU lost TWO home games. Oddly enough, one of them was to a Lon Kruger-coached team. Duke ended that run early in the 1990-1991 season. Coach K said that he wanted to play in Norman to better prepare his team for March. That March, Coach K and Duke won their first National Championship.

As stated already, OU has quite an underrated basketball tradition.

And in that game against Kruger's Wildcats (1987) we blew a nine-point lead in the final 75 seconds.

With the heat turned up, figuratively by the press and literally by the Fahrenheit, there was no tougher to place in the 80s than the Lloyd Noble Center. Put together a talented roster, and it gets tough again.

imo the media didn't treat oswho as the state basketball school till the Kelvin and Eddie days and it lingered after they were gone for no good reason.

Mitch frickin' Richmond. I watched him up here when he was with Moberly for nationals (He & Tyrone Jones made the all tourney team). Little did I know... :(

They're still doing it.

But to be fair, it's mainly the "Oklahoman." Their reporters are obsessed with finding a way to make Okie State OU's equal in basketball as well as football. Don't believe me? Pick up the sports page any day of the week you want and you'll see what I mean. A minimum of seventy percent of the space occupied by both schools will be dedicated to OSU. The Pokes get more front page stories and more pictures, too. Still don't believe me? Today's sports page is a prime example.

2019 top-75 prospects DeVion Harmon & Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, plus 2020 Jameson Richardson & Samuell Williamson are on a visit to Oklahoma

Maxey's dad was hired by SMU for DOBO. This hurts us, we were in good with Maxey.

Truth.

Everyone likes an underdog, even if that underdog never wins anything, and it's big brother has the best football pedigree and a top 15ish basketball pedigree..
