I just watched a Crimson "Classic" from the Big 12 tourney in 2003 against MU. A team with White, Price, Ebi, Bookout, and Brown, among others, went the final 15 something without a FG. For those of us that are old enough we remember all too many games like that.

Oh gosh if someone feels bad about this team I think they had unrealistic expectations. They finished about right for their talent level. I think Kruger has done a great job putting together good pieces to make a good team. This team is building to something great. Next year will be the most pressure Kruger will face with him having all the pieces he needs to truly be an elite team(if buddy stays). If they win against KU I would call this year a success. The better the recruits get the more expectations will rise. But I'm impressed with the product Kruger has put on the floor with 3 star players and home grown understated boys(Woodard, Spangler)

I like most of us, get upset after a loss, but overall I have been impressed with this team, and look forward to Sat., the Big 12 Tourn., and the NCAA Tourn. I think they will do fine.

So me and a friend are in Vegas for the B12 tourn. My friend says I'm gonna bet $100 on OU and add anything I win to the bet and bet it on OU until I lose or the tournament is over. Needless to say he felt pretty good at halftime of that Mizzou game. It was painful to watch the lead and his money disappear!

You forgot the punch line so I'll add it - we won.

I've been very proud of this team. I enjoy how they play and the kids in the group. I will say I expect a win during the NCAA's and maybe even the second weekend.

I agree with the talent level there they did pretty well overall. I hope they can win a tournament game. Big 12 and NCAA

I think some of our good stretches have caused us to have unrealistic expectations. We still have a way to go.

We are still undersized inside. Not as bad as last season but still undersized.

Woodard is progressing but is not a constant threat like a top point guard usually is.

We have to rely too much on outside shooting and our inside game is at times shut down and Woodard, Cousins and Buddy are prevented from penetrating to create easier shots.

That leads to long dry spells that have cost us at least the Iowa State, Creighton and Kansas game and probably others.

All good points. If we beat KU on Saturday, we will finish conference play at 12-6 for the 2nd year in a row and I think the conference was deeper this year. I honestly didn't expect us to fare as well. Like coolm I expect us to have a good shot to get to the Sweet 16 now..... Win 2 games. Maybe more.

I'm not saying anything bad about this year. I think we're doing fine. We often joke about Kelvin and his lid on the basket but there were some very painful games when it actually happened.

Hard to do closing the game on a 4-25 run.

that 2003 team made the Elite 8. and lost to eventual champ Carmelo Anthony and Syracuse...in Albany, NY. who no one was going to beat (except that OSU had them down double digits and blew it in the early round). Cuse beat half the Big XII in that tournament. and Hollis was gimpy.

that MU game was hard to watch, but ripping the 2003 Sooners? c'mon now.

next time the Elite 8 isn't good enough for us, let me know.

style points or not.

i like our team, too. i've been OU hoops guy for 35 years but really?

I don't believe anyone was ripping that team. As a 35 year fan you know droughts like that were hallmarks of Sampson teams.

Agree. I was just saying that as bad as our offense was to watch in that game we did hang on and win it. I think the difference is that I still tended to think we would win the games like that back then. When I see it happen now I tend to think we are going to lose. I still like our team as well; we're just bipolar.

I remember getting to the car after the game and one of the people I was with could have pushed over one of the DART train cars he was so mad. ;)
