Free Admission for Arkansas Game

They just can't get out of their own way and keep embarrassing themselves. Fan appreciation................give me a break. Here's how to show appreciation:

1. How about a preseason intrasquad scrimmage open to season ticket holders and hold it in Mcasland so the rest of us who aren't BMD or students can watch a game in there.
2. How about scheduling us someone above 100 in NET ranking in the non conference to show you appreciate the fans and want to reward them.
3. How about not having a screeching girl that sounds like an 8th grader and knows nothing about basketball emceeing. Here OU marketing, let me do your job for you. Want to get interest in the basketball program? Have a guest OU football player emcee the game. Think Kip Lewis wouldn't generate some excitement? Think the football team wouldn't show? Think the students wouldn't show? Think the fans wouldn't show? And then do it every second or third game, get some excitement in the students, fans and team. After all, we pay them NIL money now right?
4. If you are going to have free for all nights then reward the season ticket holders with a refund or voucher or something instead of saying well everyone else gets in free but we already have your money so sorry.

This really isn't that hard if you just give a damn about basketball fans.

By the way, if you happen to be a season ticket holder prepare to get in a fight to sit in your seat tonight.

I don't think this will be a problem unfortunately... thanks Loser Moser

I do hope they figure out a way to make sure season ticket holders get their seats without drama. You’d think that would be the first emphasis after what apparently happened the last time they did this. But I seriously doubt the place will be very full.

You can show appreciation to the fans by investing in the program and hiring the right people. Maybe act like you care about the program and the fans instead of ignoring it. Make it a priority to be great at basketball. Fans appreciate winning.

Not OSU game, but another weather effected game as I season ticket holder I was told to head to east side floor area. They were reserving those for season ticket holders.

Sent the ticket office an email asking how I will receive my refund as a season ticket holder who has already paid for tonight's game. I'm just doing it to be ornery because I knew I would get the same response as I did last time.

"Season ticket holders will not be recieving a refund for this game. All season tickets are at a much discounted rate and unfortunatley since the game is still being played, we are not able to process any refunds."

I responded with "much discounted" isn't the same as free is it? Just refund me the "much discounted" amount. I also noted they might want to use spell check if they don't know how to spell.

The embarrassment from this program isn't just on the floor!

Interesting, I have never been told that. I only buy regular seats with no additional donation for basketball so maybe I don't rate access to that information. That would be a welcome sign if they did do that.

I don't live there. How are the roads supposed to be tonight? Are they ok enough for people to drive over from Arkansas for a 6:00 game? Or, are the ok enough for people to get there from OKC?

Sorry, but this is just weird. Weird for feeling like you would even get or need a refund, and weird that you'd email them and make life harder on somebody that is just doing their job. OU isn't running their basketball program poorly because you aren't getting refund. No school in a similar position would offer you a refund or any other concession.

JMO.

Main roads and highways are fine. Neighborhood roads are passable but certainly not fully melted.

Yep just your opinion. No other school would give free admission to one of their events. And maybe you aren’t a season ticket holder that experiences dealing with the ticket office on a yearly basis. If not, I can maybe see how you wouldn’t get it.

I can't think of any event where somebody buys a ticket, the event still happens, and whether they reduce the ticket prices or give them out for free, the original purchasers get anything done for them. Not in sports. Not with concerts. Not with any other event. It's sad that you would event suggest it.

I have football season tickets. I have had them since 1999. I've had no problems.

Sorry you think it’s sad. That’s the point, nobody but OU makes an event free after people have paid except OU. It’s sad to me you would pay for admission to something then when it’s made free say oh well.

We will just agree to disagree

Some of the same about season football tickets. It was advertsed that there would be no increase in season football ticket prices. However the price for
6 games in 2026 is the same as 7 games in 2025. How is that not a price increase?

Well my conclusion to the great Free Admission game. It was actually good to have some atmosphere and excitement in the arena again, despite the inevitable outcome. And the administration did have ample signage at the doors and throughout the arena stating that season ticket holders are entitled to their seats and anyone entering with free admission should be prepared to move. I would guess maybe 7 to 8 thousand in attendance, which was more than i expected. Just kind of reminded me what it used to feel like when we were competitive on a night in and night out basis. And to top it off, an email late yesterday from Joe C stating that the response from the ticket office was unsatisfactory and offering to call me in the next few days. I don't know if it will happen given that the new AD presser is today and I'm sure his plate will be full, but the gesture is much appreciated.
