We have a great opportunity in 2016 to watch some talented freshmen come into the league and make a difference. Everyone has talked about Cox, Holmes, Mulkey, etc.

I'm going out on a limb by saying my projected POY in the Big 12 for 2016 is Amber Ramirez. She can flat score the basketball and, from what I've seen, she can defend as well. I think she will excel in Pebley's system.

Nice pick, I think she could be big 12 ROY since she can put the ball in the hoop and should have the green light... I'm going with cox, Baylor normally sweeps all the awards anyway...

Cox is certainly a good pick. The reason I didn't pick her is because Baylor has so many really good players, the ball does not have to go through Cox. TCU doesn't have that kind of talent and therefore they will want the ball in Ramirez's hands as much as possible because she is hard to guard and can score in bunches.

It's just fun to talk about even if it doesn't matter what we think. :)

I have seen Ramirez only one time, in the semi-finals of the state tournament against Cypress Woods. She did hit some early shots from three that gave them an early lead. I didn't get a feel for whether she could drive, dribble, or play defense. The defense played by the guards for either team was not overwhelming. I don't know if she can penetrate. Is she limited to being a three-point shooter? She does have one advantage. TCU will tend to favor someone like her.

Cox may have a role in which she doesn't get sufficient attention to be freshman of the year. She is one of how many big girls? Isn't she somewhat of a replacement for Davis? She may be the best of the freshmen, but not get the featured role.

I wouldn't discount Mulkey.

I pick Joyner Holmes at Texas for Freshman of the year. I have a feeling she will have a big time impact for the Longhorns in 2016
