Has Gabbi finally broken through? When she plays with that fire, it takes us to a whole different level. I am so happy to see her playing this well right now. Earlier this season, she rightfully lost minutes to Edwards. But when Gabbi is playing to her potential, the difference between her and Edwards is substantial. What I love is that Gabbi is finishing around the basket, much like Sherri'a point guards of the past have always been able to do.

Gabbi is a leader, and this is the type of play I have been hoping we would see from her. She displayed flashes as a freshman, but it seemed like since that season, she hasn't been playing free... until lately.

I was wondering if the team depended on Maddie too much. Good one to depend on but perhaps Ortiz gets more involved with Maddie not there.

I thought she had improved since getting her starting job back, and steadily improved the last half of the season. Her defense has really picked up, her rebounding returning to top notch, and knowing when to make a big shot. Maybe she stepped up in leadership without Maddie, but whatever the reason, Maddie, coaching, maturity, a vacuum, or all of the above, it is good to see her development

I thought that Maddie, Gabbi, and Vivi had formed a core around which the team had begun to rotate. They seemed to know what they were doing. I didn't think they could survive without Maddie, and how far they will go will depend on how rapidly Maddie becomes readjusted to the core. For the most part, you are better off if ninety percent of the time the ball is in the hands of the core.

It was a race between her and Edwards for some time, but Gabbi has really picked it up. She's clearly the best point.
