Reading more about Miss. State, this will really come down to how interested we are in defending. Sounds like they basically let Hubbard have the green light, as well as one or two other guards. Lusk expects Jadon to get a lot of action tonight since they will likely want him on Hubbard as much as possible. That makes sense. It's too bad JN has been such a flop because if he was anywhere near what he was said to be, he would give us another bigger guard with the potential to be a good defender.

IMO, we need to go at least 2-2 in these next four games. Tonight's game will not be easy....MSU is currently a -1.5 favorite. MSU has won 5 in a row, with wins @ UT, Memphis and Utah. None of those 3 teams are great by any means, but bad teams wouldn't have beat all of those. Their most recent loss was against SF, but Hubbard only played 2 mins in that game (not sure if he got hurt or what). Hubbard is elite and can go off for 30+ on any night. We have got to guard the 3 pt line. Some of their other losses were against Iowa St, SMU, K-state. KSU isn't great, but those other two are really good teams. SMU just beat UNC, and of course Iowa St. is still undefeated and ranked 3rd in the nation. A win tonight would really help if we want to make the tourney this year. You got to hold serve at home, and snag some games on the road. This is one of those road games that is winnable...IF we can defend, and hopefully not have an off night shooting the ball.

Agree it's a winnable game, and almost a must-win if we want to be taken seriously. I think tonight tells us a lot about where we are as a team right now. We could be a very competitive team in the SEC this season, or we could be like last season and you just never know what you're going to get from one game to the next. More talent this year though makes it more of a pressure season for Moser, IMO.

Agree Wichita. This is swing game for the reasons you state. We need a road win, because we are likely to lose one or two home games. I would put Saturday's game in this category, because, as you state, it gets a lot tougher after saturday. If we can win tonight and Saturday, we will have set ourselves up to make a realistic run at at 10 win conference record.

Especially with SEC not being near as good as last season, meaning there will be less bids to go around. If we want to set ourselves up in a good spot to make the tournament, these next two are must wins IMO.

I feel like this is one of those back to earth games where we get rolled. That being said, I will be ecstatic with a W. The one I really want is Saturday. If we win both? I'll start jogging behind the Moser bandwagon, again.
