GAME 37 - THE CROWN - OKLAHOMA (21-15) vs WEST VIRGINIA (20-14) 4:30pm CST on FOX

But what about the 4 out of 5 times in the Moser tenure that we've been within a game or two of each other? He gets lucky 80% of the time?

We see the same results every year. And they aren't good enough, but they're pretty consistent.
Not sure why you are making THAT comment in response to this post of mine.

I stated in another post that he is consistent and that I expect to be in that same range next year, regardless of the roster. Not good enough for me.

Right? I don’t get the argument. We all agree that he’s been consistently bad or maybe some think he rises to the level of mediocrity. Either way, it’s not good enough.

You could disappear for several months again, like you did for this season once OU started losing? Maybe your teams need some of your fabulous coaching this spring?
Been over this. Left we were 6-3 or 7-2.

But don’t let facts get in the way of a good story.

Lol 6-3 . . . with no good wins and already one horrible loss to ASU. You pulled the plug after it was clear we weren't living up to expectations. Maybe the timing was a coincidence, but you have a pretty long history of posting much less frequently when things are going poorly, then resurfacing when things briefly get better.

I guess I misread. Several on here were saying we'll get worse because we couldn't possibly duplicate our transfer class, ignoring the fact that we've been a 20 +/- 1 win team for 80% of Moser's tenure.

Once again. Took the break for my season.

But go on… you’ve already posted that same thing a couple times.

Watched every game just like you. Went to 8-10x more games than you I’d guess

So you left when we had lost every game we had played against a team with a pulse?

Thanks for confirming.

I left bc my season started. Is reading that hard?? I going if we were 6-3 9-0 or 0-9.
It is when you've been a HS bball coach for years and you've still managed to post here during year season.

Just seems odd.

give it a rest guys. If you aren't going to use the ignore feature, at least show some self control and ignore the posts.
Yall remind me of my kids

You’re making a strawman argument. Basically arguing against a position you made up. I can’t tell if you’re just trolling as usual or being earnest.

not sure why he's arguing at all. he admits crup moser needs to go.
he's arguing crup moser did just enough to still suck.
he just argues for sport.

Thoughts on the game:

First, and no I don't want Moser fired, but he just can't help himself. He can't control his addiction to quit playing offense in the last 6 minutes of a game and just trying to run the clock out. He just can't stop himself. He did it again. He quit running his offense at about the 6 minute mark, ran the clock shot down and then got a horrible shot and failed to score for about the last 5 minutes. And, he took his rotations back into a shell. It he has the guys he wants to play for whatever reason and no matter how well someone else is playing he limits their minutes when under pressure. I have been a proponent of his playing Atak and Rogers all year. I thought he loosened up in the early games of the tourney, but then only played Rogers 15-16 minute and Atak a lot less in the championship. He really needs to look at his tendencies objectively and take stock of whether some of them fit the NBA style game the college has become.

You have to hedge on ball screens where the kid going over the screen can shoot the 3. Have to or against the wrong team they will just shoot you out of the game.
You have to stay under kids out to 25 feet, at least those that are shooters. Quit helping so much and just get physical with dribblers like everyone else.

Second half was nothing short of corrupt officiating. Reminded me of playing Kansas at Kansas. Officials would refuse to allow Kansas to have an empty possession in the second half. They scored or got free throws.

Good tournament save and except the last 5 or so minutes of the championship game in regulation. Fell back into the pattern that cost us the NCAA.

Key for Moser and the team next year, is he has got to be introspective about his coaching. Not all is bad, but he has to fix some things. He has to adjust to the NBA style of the game. Like BV says, everything matters. Defensively, soft pressure limits offensive possessions (in scoring position) to less than 22 seconds. Got to hedge on ball screens with good shooters involved. Got to play further out under players and not just to the 3 point line. Less help on dribble penetration and greater physicality by the defenders against dribblers. Offensively, he has got to quit playing 5 out. Whoever his posts are, he has got to work with them on scoring in the low post. Watch U Conn.

Here we go with the “corrupt officiating” BS. It’s pathetic to blame this Moser meltdown on the refs. And he’s been the same for his entire coaching career. You really think he’s going to suddenly “look at his tendencies?” Give me a break.

How wild is it to think officials were “corrupt” in the Crown championship game? Am I missing something? We were playing in an empty gym in a meaningless tourney against a team that is far from a blue blood or household name. Corrupt implies that the officials purposefully called the game in their favor, not that they simply missed calls. It’s ludicrous to suggest that.

And you’re right … Moser has no self awareness. He hasn’t changed anything about our passive defense in five years. He hasn’t changed our tempo regardless of whether we have good or bad athleticism and length. We can only hope the GM is able to help put together a roster where the pieces fit together, and where we don’t have a glaring weakness. And please, no more projects who will transfer before they ever play for us.
