Game

This is the same NCAA that appropriated the seats my friend and I had purchased for NCAA games in Tulsa a few years ago. My friend is in a wheelchair and we bought handicapped accessible seats on the upper level. When we got to the BOK, they had taped off our seats. We tore the tape down because we had tickets for those seats. They made us move! They said the NCAA had the right to do that. They eventually found us seats but no one ever sat in the seats we purchased.

they are a disaster no doubt

the good thing is that in the old days i would be there would be no chance

but at least the NCAA now owns the NIT so they may let the OU game happen at home

Who is “they?” No one is screwing us. Our women had a great season and earned the right to host. There are women’s teams who need to use the arena for games and shootaround and practices. It sounds like there is a good chance we will host the game, but if not, who exactly is to blame? And as others note, we wouldn’t be the only seed to have to go on the road in the NIT.

“They” are the NIT/NCAA and our own athletic department. I didn’t mention anything about the women. I’ve been to almost all their games and support them as much as the men. However, their games on Saturday are late afternoon/night which means we could play the men’s game early. On Sunday there are no women’s games so that should be easily workable.

My biggest complaint otherwise is that I like going to the games and it would be one less I’d get to go to….selfish I know.

The trickling of info on this game is weird. Maybe waiting to see what happens in other NIT games today to see the TV slots?

I imagine they are trying to work to minimize the disruption to the women’s tournament. They apparently had to get an exception to the rule in order to play in LNC, so there are a lot of moving parts. TV might factor in but I doubt it’s the only issue.

I think TV is a big factor. There are only two matchups set for the eight games. And only four TV slots for the games (the rest are on ESPN+). I imagine they want to put their best four matchups on TV.

Probably not the best news in terms of getting people to the LNC… a Sunday night the last night of Spring Break not ideal— I was fully planning on going but won’t be able to make it. Will be watching, but can’t attend. Students will be back on campus so maybe they can try to get them in the building, but it’s not like they haven’t tried that before. The fact that many fans may be attending women's games Sat/Mon probably won’t help either. In any event, hope they get a crowd equal to the Mo St game. Rooting for us to wind up against UVA at the LNC next week.

On the other hand, if there are fans of the women's team who are staying over the weekend, they might come to the men's game on Sunday.

The first 2,000 students got in free Tuesday night. I don't know how many took advantage of it. They might do that again.

From Soonersports.com:
Oklahoma students are able to claim a free ticket to the NIT second round game against St. Bonaventure while supplies last. Sign into the Oklahoma student ticket portal to claim up to four tickets: SoonerSports.com/students.

Doesn't specify how many free tickets they're giving away, though.

For the women's games, they have an option so that you can buy a student a ticket.

I remember St Bonaventure won a holiday tournament at the time we lost to Utah St. They beat Boise and Marquette. At that point I thought they would make the NCAA tournament but they lost road games like us. We need to play well against them to advance.

They were top 25 a few weeks into the season. They are the kind of team that is likely dangerous in this tournament; very good, motivated to beat brand name P5 opponents, and since they weren’t really on the bubble, they aren’t still disappointed they didn’t make the dance. I watched a bit of their game last night and they have a big who is very athletic and dynamic defensively.

Our only prior matchup with SB was in 2001. We won. Also vegas likes us in this one more than any of the other 3 games. Were favored by 6. The next biggest spread on sunday is 3.

There were no students to speak of at the Mo. St. game….spring break. I think they’ll be back against the Bonnies. It’s also GA so the lower bowl will be fuller. I’ll be there. Busy weekend with baseball, men’s gymnastics, women’s tournament and softball in OKC.
