If anybody in the DFW area wants to put a game to the name of many of the prospects we talk about on here, here is the chance.

The games will be all day at the Carrollton IAD just off 35.

Some of the big names often talked about on here that are expected to be there.

Julius Randle (2013) - Plano Prestonwood
Jarion Henry (2011) - Dallas Kimball
Kyan Anderson (2011) - North Crowley
Marcus Smart (2012) - Flower Mound Marcus
Prince Ibeh (2012) Garland Naaman Forest
Kendall Harris (2013) Richardson Berkner

In addition, you'll find many of the area's best players that are either not mentioned as being on OU's radar or are already committed to other schools. It will make for a good weekend, especially if you're looking for talent.

Keep in mind, these teams will be littered with JV type kids that are on the bubble for making their teams. Coaches mainly use this time of the year to evaluate personnel and chemistry around here. The best teams are deep teams, and as a result don't play their studs for very long, at least as a unit.

Here are some other notables in the tourney and some of the better teams:

Kimball
- Jarion
- Jordan Williams 6'6" 2011 (top 5 in Texas - SF committed to North Texas - nice all-around game)
- Jalen Jones 6'5" 2011 (mid-major type, SF getting more skilled, has high ceiling)
Desoto
- Antwan Space 6'7" 2011 (high-major, SF/PF top 5 in Texas)
- Matt Jones 6'4" 2013 (SF great shooter, top 10 in Texas)
Irving
- JJ Thompson 5'10" 2011 (PG committed to Houston)
- Keith Frazier 6'4" 2013 (SG top 10 in country)
Flower Mound Marcus
- Marcus
- Nick Banyard 6'7" 2012 (mid-major type, PF plays hard)
- Phil Forte 5'10" 2012 (mid-major type, PG/SG great shooter)
- AJ Luckey 5'11" 2012 (low-major type, PG/SG)

When did Banyard transfer to Marcus, didnt he play for Grace Prep last year?

Also Forte reminds me of Keiton Page and Rotnie Clark.

This is Banyard's first year at Marcus, and yes he was at GP last season. There's been quite a bit of undertow here in the metroplex this off-season about transfers and their legality. We can PM about it if you want to know more.

As for Forte, yes, he's a lot like them in that he's tough as nails and not intimidated. He's still so young, we'll just have to see where he ends up. I didn't see Page until he got to OSU, but I did see Rotnei when he was with Team Texas quite a bit, and I don't see Phil being on that level. Rotnei could flat take over a whole AAU game, gym, and even tournament offensively.

What is your take on Keiton Miles, Daze? Seems like he had a ton of recruiting momentum about this time last year and then really has fallen quiet.

He's consistently inconsistent. To me, that's his issue. It's not as much an intensity thing as it is a lack of confidence and/or skill to do the things he should be able to do given his body type.

He's very slender and long. He can't dominate the paint like his length should allow him to, and he can't play on the perimeter yet with any consistency. He's stuck with the "potential" label if you ask me. He's played on a high-profile team for a while now, but has played a limited role on that team.

IMO, that has handicapped his growth, but elevated his exposure. I would guess that college coaches are caught in the middle between his lack of current production/projected role in their league and his potential for both.

This tweet almost makes me regert not getting up way too early and missing college football for this event.

By the way Marcus Smart is probably the most underrated player in 2012 ! The kid can play !

Smart is my boy, I hope we're recruiting him.

i've seen where he's said the entire big 12 is recruiting him.
I'm sure OU has sent him mail and perhaps even called (typical procedure for a top 25 nationally prospect within 165 miles or so from the LNC) I just hope they have been to watch him and "showed him the love" like other schools have. I just worry because before this summer he would mention OU directly in interviews and school listing but now its KSU, Marquette and Baylor recruiting him the hardest per one rivals interview. It would just be frustrating to me that a kid who seems to be ideal for improving the program (after the issues last year) who OU's basketball arena is the second closet one to his high school gets away because we're not as interested as other schools (especially one in Wisconsin). Meh, I'll just wait it out and hope the best happens for the OU program and Marcus himself (seems like a great kid, good to see him getting so much attention after being "unknown" just about 6 months ago.
