Gates to Minnesota

Yes, Nebraska is even more desperate for football success than we are. They are indeed going to pump every possible dollar into football.

Two differences between Nebraska and OU: Their fans will support anything with a big red N on it, no matter how bad the product. They fill their arena win or lose. And, they have a relatively new arena just off campus. Nebraska has built two arenas since Lloyd Noble was built in 1975.

It's a bad basketball job...they've never won an NCAA tournament game. But the bar is lower, as well. And, apparently, Fred gets along with the current AD.
I live outside of Omaha and you are spot on about how Husker fans attend things. But it's not just Husker sports, Creighton is supported well and the Omaha Mavericks (especially Hockey, been to a few games with over 6,500 -7,000 people in attendance) which is more than go to OU home basketball games (sad). My hope is that the move to the SEC will overtime help with the culture of the fans.

First of all, it's Nebraska. It's one of the worst programs of all power conferences. They've made like 2 tourneys since Y2K.. guess who accomplished half of those??

You throw out those first 2 or 3 seasons (is that fair? Idk. It might be, bc his results def have a positive skew), and he's doing a pretty dang good job at nebbish actually IMO.

But I don't even care about his nebbish results.. He is a much more proven winner in a power conference, than pm is (or would ever dream of being). Go look at his career win %, even with nebbish.. it's better than pm. Again, if you take out those initial years at nebbish, look at that career winning %, it's great.

Simply, he's a winner. He's at a dumpster fire program and is circling the drain on relevance. The support he would get at OU (i know, i know) would assuredly be better than Nebraska. bc Nebraska football is even more desperate than ou football. I can't imagine hardly a single cent going to nebbish bball over football rn.

I think he'd come on a decent deal and I think he would jump to go to ou imo and i think hed be a great bridge coach option (if not long-term). We just need the spot

Not trying to start an argument...but why do we give Hoiberg a 2-3 year pass? And pick PM apart when we took over a program that was traditionally better but in a very average state?

When we like the idea of some coach you give him a pass but then lambast a guy who wins 20 games but didn't get in the tournament?

I just think it's funny how we are quick to judge one but tell people that one guy deserves more time.

Body of work. If pm won 67% or so of his games prior to OU, I'd absolutely buy what you're selling and I'd say I'm being hypocritical and id may be even a sunshine pumper.. But pm is a 55% winning coach (and in small conferences). So that's why

For reference, pm would have to have flipped 85 games that were losses into wins, to match hoiberg's winning 67% at ISU, from pm's career 54.9% winning %. That's drastic. Pm would had to have add 5 extra wins EVERY YEAR prior to OU to match hoiberg

Plus years 1-2 are markedly different than the last 2 years of hoiberg. Like 2-3 times better in win %. I think one would have to be blind to not see that he's figuring things out at nebbish, which is why I think it's fair to consider tossing those first 3 or so years..

It sucks losing Gates, but if he can hire someone like Brock Morris as a replacement it could be okay.

The turnover in staff hasn't been good- and I believe the stability the last two years can be seen on the bench during games- but he has done a fairly good job on replacements.
LMAO!!!! Brock Morris is as bad if not worse than Porter.

And some of you would be happy to stick with a coach no matter how many years go by without us winning a tournament game or being relevant in our league.
If you hate so bad… why keep coming back till we make a change? Honest question

some you would complain about absolutely (censored word) anything…

Better yet, who was he the lead recruit on. If jumping up and down and waiving your hands around is an example of why he’s qualified, you can have it.

He disappeared from his antics when OU was losing.

If you’re that dumb and think that’s all he does. Then carry on my guy.
