Gibson got his waiver as is immediately eligible, per the team twitter account.

Hopefully, he'll be the missing link we've needed to solidify the guard position and make it a cohesive outfit. Along with Austin we should have some scoring power from the perimeter and perhaps make it easier for the bigger guys.

Awesome news! Gibson gives us a combo guard who will more than make up for losing JB to the transfer portal.

ncaa was busy today. i am sure they had good reason to wait until today to make these guys eligible.

Hopefully he looks as good against the rest of the Big 12 as he did against us.
Glad he gets to play this year.

OU now has one of the best and deepest back courts in the nation

thats great news. this is one of the more talented and deep backcourts that we will have had in some time. The current guards had so much potential already that they just weren't hitting. Reaves spotty shooting and questionable shot choices ... Harmon's wilting flower syndrome ... Alondes spacing out mentally ... those things often improve dramatically with just a little more maturity with the team. Add that pesky Gibson to the mix and it's a good group. and in college basketball that's typically a good barometer for success.

lol, and yet we're not even projected in the top half of our own conference?

Come on.

Talent and depth should be better than last year. I'll stop there for now.

Certainly a bit extreme. I'd be happy to be in the top half of conference in terms of backcourts, and ecstatic if it was top 3. I don't think we'll strike much fear nationally, though it's nice to know we have enough bodies to comfortably remove anybody from the starting lineup if the effort isn't there.

Agreed. We have more guys that can potentially break out, whether that is for the season or for a specific game. Also never know with COVID stuff when somebody might miss a game. Nice to have some quality options.

Like I said, our guard play should be better than last year, maybe even considerably better. But we're a long ways from having one of the best in the nation.

Might qualify as hyper-bowl (off the chart guard expectation).

Who starts? Reaves, Harmon then Wiliams or Gibson? Manek backed up by Hill for most of the season? Center Kuath and Victor.

Would have been a total screw job if he wasn't.

Great news.

Never know how a new guy effects a team...Wait and see, see if he even gets on the court.

Oh, there is no doubt he’ll get on the court. The only question is not if he’ll start, but when?

I’ll repeat what I have said before. When OU played UNT last season, Gibson was the best guard on the floor, and that was with JB on our roster. I have no inside information, but I think Mo may be why Jamal decided to transfer.

Let's go small: Harmon, Gibson, Williams, Reaves, Manek. Houston Rockets style.
