First, is Cy Fair a group in Texas or is Cy often the first part of these teams'
names.

Second, my first thought before opening the post was, was she kin to you?
Obviously from your post, she isn't. SO A LOT of good you are going to do us!!!
j/k

I believe after reading the article, Cy Fair Shock is a traveling team she is a member of.

But is it from Oklahoma? It seems I have seen two specific teams elite? teams
mentioned from Texas which started with "CY" AND I am wondering if the
"CY" means something in particular and is used by all travelling teams or may mean something in particular but is NOT part name of all travelling teams. I did a quick google and did not find anything.

And do appreciate the response.

Cy Fair is for the Cypress Fairbanks school district in Cypress Texas...part of Houston.

Okay, well that was what I was curious about. Since she was from Oklahoma,
I thought she might be playing on an Ok. team and all the teams that play on teams other than their high school teams in the offseason, might start with CY which meant SOMETHING.

So now, of course, I have another question. Is she playing for the school district or is she playing on an AAU team which is in that school district so it is named that? Or both? Isn't she from Lawton, Ok?

THANKS for responses all have given. I just do not know the names of any AAU teams and had known there was a Cy Fair school team but then thought maybe that maybe it was also an AAU team, as well as some other, CY ? TEAMS were AAU teams.

And Tycat, had no idea there were many Cypress schools in Texas. Guessing that might be a very common tree in Texas. Still find it kind of weird to have so many schools named with it, though I kind of like it. Am into nature and it certainly is not political and not using presidents that some
people love and others abhor. Kind of a cool name for schools.

EDIT: Okay, thought to google and Cy Fair Shock is her club team, as I am sure most of you are aware.
Do we not have an Oklahoma Club team which compares to most in Texas? And, even if we did have one or
two, do most of these club teams play in-state so you get better experience playing for a Texas team?

When I lived in Houston (90-94) there were just a couple of CyFair high schools but with the tremendous growth in Houston and suburbs, you can see how many new ones have been created. Kinda the same in Katy (west of Houston) too.

Do you mean like our recruits:
Nancy Mulkey, Cypress Woods
Jack Flansburg, Cypress College (baseball)
Hunter Justus, Cypress (Gymnastics)
Meia Gordon, Cypress Creek (Track)
Alissa Dalton, Cypress Fairbanks (Softball)
Nicole Mendes, Houston (Softball) I have seen her listed as home schooled in CYpress.
Reece Clark, Cypress Woods (Football)
Du'vonta Lampkin, Cypress Falls (Football)

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD high school students attend Cy-Fair High School, Cypress Lakes High School, Jersey Village High School, Cypress Creek High School, Cypress Falls High School, Cypress Woods High School, Cypress Springs High School, Langham Creek High School, Cypress Ridge High School, and Cypress Ranch High School.

Windfern High School offers an alternative path toward graduation for accepted students from the above high school attendance zones. From wiki

Yes. I didn't realize Jersey Village was part of CyFair school district but it is right there.

So understand there are many Cypress schools, but do not know why. Also, do you know the answer to my question
re: club ball? would just like to understand more, do not mean to be demanding that anyone should help me

Why is Ginger playing for a Texas club?

And I am just curious about why the number of Cypress schools, realize it is not anyone's responsibility to enlighten me. I couldn't find anything when I googled. Maybe I should have googled something different than cypress tress in Texas. I thought maybe it was the state tree or that Texas was known for growing cypress. I do know that they are clearing virgin cypress in the southern wetlands so you should not buy cypress mulch. I mean why do they let them ruin these wetlands? And I am not thinking of Texas as having southern wetlands.

I think players can play for any club team they are invited to play on. Ginger may be from Houston area a while ago, I don't know. Brittany Griner played for club in DFW area and not Houston, where she lived. Maybe Ginger knows some of the players at CyFair and they wanted her to play with them. I don't know.

CyFair is school district, like Edmond, Norman, Moore or Putnam City. That area (Houston area really) has really grown and thus required the opening of new high schools over the years. Katy, in western Houston, has been the same. I think there was only Katy High when I lived there and now there are about 9 or 10 high schools in Katy ISD. Just like Edmond went from one high school to three in one year back in 90's.

I was looking at her twitter. She follows Stanford, Cal, UCONN, 3 coaches from UCLA, OSU, TCU, and Thrailkill.
