Lost to a DII school tonight......badly........they were too big, too strong and they shot the eyes out of it........gets tougher Sunday when we go visit NC Central with Oklahoma Sooner transfer Ray Willis.

I'll let you know how he looks.

i'd be interested in your report on sutton as well as willis after your game with nccu.

Tough start. Hang in there coach. You guys gotta endure the pain, to apppreciate the pleasure. :)

Go get em in in the next one......:clap:clap

Jmizz........I went into this with realistic expectations. I knew we would struggle for a couple of years until we could get in the players we needed to compete. I like a couple of the pieces we have put together so far. We have some more work to do in order to get anywhere close to where we want to be.

We have to get some size for sure among other things. Our kids play really hard so that is a positive. Just have to keep building it.

Sys I will give you a rundown on what those guys look like. We are on our way to the game now. We play this afternoon at 4:00.

Almost tip off time. Good luck today Coach......:clap:clap

Ok......Dominique Sutton was a MAN today.........he had 18 pts and 9 rbs......and dunked about 5 times. We were severely outmatched in the paint and they had 62 points in the paint....they dunked probably a dozen times. Ray Willis had 11 pts and 2 rbs and was 0-1 from 3 pt range.......my kids played hard for 40 minutes but it is tough to compete with an athletic DI when you are non-scholarship. We can take some things away from this game and actually competed better in the second half than the first.

When you are 6', 6'2", 6'3" and 6'4" and going up against 6'7", 6'6", 6'6", 6'8", etc and athletic you are going to really struggle.

Played 3 DIII teams this week so we will be on a little more even ground. I will update you.

sorry about your loss, but thanks for the report. i'd love to see nccu make some noise and maybe get into the tournament this year. with a couple of big 12 transfers, you'd think they would probably have a talent advantage against most teams in the meac.

I think he said he had 8 transfers on the roster. He also has a freshman from Norway that can play. Very fundamentally sound, passes well, shoots well.....very solid player.

We were simply overmatched......but you have to play those games with a new program to get established and get noticed. Recruits want to play those games as well. With a new program you want to be seeen by as many people as possible.

We play two games like that this year (Central and then at NC A&T the day before Thanksgiving). Mixed in with several DII games and several DIII games.

Keep working hard, NCSooner, you'll get there in time. Obviously, you need more size to compete with teams like those you have faced so far. Any chance you might be able to go the JUCO route to sign some bigs?

Dom Sutton was Tony Crocker's teammate at the Patterson's School. I was hoping he would join Tony at OU, but he ended up at K-State. I think he had some grade problems back then, so don't really know if OU was all that serious about signing him. Sutton can play. Very athletic! Sounds like the same ol' Ray Willis, though. Heck, he was capable of putting up 11 and 2 when he was at OU two years ago. I liked Ray. Wish it could have worked out for him.

We put a 6'1" freshman on Ray and he held his own. He didn't score much but he didn't give up a ton against Ray either. We play 6 freshmen major minutes.......when we get some size we will be ok......and yes, we can go the juco route but we are non scholarship so it is a little tougher. I do have a juco guard coming in our second trimester Tafter Thanksgiving) who averaged 20 ppg last year and hit 60 threes.........he should help.
